What's the point of Crucible in Campaign, especially for melee/ weapon based builds?

It gives you a view and feeling into the league mechanic like pretty much every league. Ofc everything till red maps is going to be bad cause you want to have a high level item base after all. Besides that you can still simply vendor your weapons as before. Not to mention that you don't play the campaign longer than 2 days anyways.
