Elemental Hit and Shaper of Flames/Winter/Storms Elemental Ailment Issue

"Using Elemental Hit with the Shaper of Flames ascendancy node on Elementalist doesn't always apply an ignite. In fact, it seems Elemental Hit is only applying the ailment for the type that was chosen, even though the Shaper nodes for Elementalist state all damage can cause effects and flames/storms state they always should."

I encountered this today and this was reported before, is this not a bug, am i missing something?

I would assume with Shaper of Storms that you should still be inflicting Shock regardless of the chosen element. Is this not the case?

However, Shaper of Flames will not allow you to ignite if the chosen element is not Fire. Elemental Hit "Deals no Damage of [non-chosen] Damage Types". If it did not choose Fire, then you do no Fire damage, which is always the damage type of Ignite.

Shaper of Flames has "All damage can ignite", so it should be able to ignite regardless of the element chosen, but it is not the case now
And your damage does all Ignite!

And the Ignite does 0 damage because it is Fire damage and you deal no Fire damage with that attack.

This isn't about how Shaper of Flames works, this is about how Elemental Hit works. No fire damage with the attack also means no fire damage from ailments inflicted by the attack.

I finally got it, thanks for your explanation :)
feel like this should be a thing. the wording makes it seem like they wanted to be clear that you are cycling through elements instead of double dipping. "deal" no other element means your hit is 1/3 and that is the only stipulation. shaper modifying the effects of that dealt damage should be legal. the damage dealt is ex. lightning, the burn is damage based on the dealt lightning damage. i think the difference is that the dot and the hit are separate dmg sources though one is based on the other. basically, you can do 50 dmg but only cold, but cold can cause an extra ailment now. so cold dmg creates a status that deals fire dmg based on a hit that was constrained to cold. undeniably the skill is not "dealing" the ailment dmg. it deals the damage that creates the status (burning), which damages based on the magnitude of the hit. it doesn't say "cause no ailments of other elements" and shaper specifically says "cause da ailments" therefore, science.
