What has happened to PoE? Am I playing a KR MMORPG?
That's how the game evolved through the years.
The more streamers and youtubers you watch the more apparent the problem is. That's like a lottery on steroids. In real life someone wins the lottery as well, but 99% people can play whole life without winning big. Sanctum just shows what problems the core POE has. - No hit run is almost impossible without builds which offscreen the mobs. And something like flicker mobs shouldn't be a thing. Is stutter move and shoot really the type of gameplay we wanna have? - Design of bosses that rely on getting them down quickly or some BS that you dun know how to dodge or do anything with will brick your run. Some examples are Cortex degens, UE degens etc. So you have to go more offence then defence. - The type of random layers on top of each other are getting ridiculous. And the weightings are always not in your favour. You need to pull the lever hunderds or thousands of times to even sometimes break even (time and currency). Some examples of that is 3600 Ancient Orbs of MBX and not getting a good belt or 10k of Stacked Decks without getting even some decent cards. Kobe running Sanctums hundreds of times and not getting the relic he needed. 1000 Exarch and Eater and getting 1 - 2% chances on the good drops, and 1000 Eaters is like 20k maps with the Passives. Even if you're playing 12 hours a day that's like 55 days straight assuming you need 2 min per map. Actually weighting of almost anything in the game are stacked against you, how many Vorici attempts do you have to do till you get 6 white sockets... - The high level builds are much harder to reach each league. And if you aren't a streamer and you already reached T16 and killed some bosses, what else do you wanna do in a new league. Getting endgame items is such a time committment even for profficient players that 90% of people in league won't even have. So yeah we are playing a game which needs a high commitment to ever achieve anything, and the higher you are the better the chances you have for content to start snowballing of itself where you rake the benefits. The only question is, would that be the time commitment someone is willing to make. And there is also one thing people tend to not see. Supposedly Ruthless has better gear progression then normal POE. That is not really true, while that what drops is an upgrade to what you have doesn't change the fact that we are talking about T4 or T5 mods. You are pigeonholed into few specific builds if you want to achieve anything at all. So yeah it feels like a korean MMORPG which is catering to streamers and full time youtubers. Doesn't mean you can't have fun with it. Just means you should know what you're getting into and how the odds are stacked against you. Last edited by TheRealMrDeath#5592 on Jan 25, 2023, 11:01:11 AM

" This pretty well summarizes what I mentioned about repercussions. Not having normalized movement speed and enemy density. Not putting emphasis on enemies then catering to screen wide clear builds. You end up with quantity over quality. I'm fairly sure at this point it's better to just alch and go on maps than to fight harder enemies. The game no longer cares how hard something is because there's no longer a way to properly gauge difficulty so it just uses clicks and clears for progression instead. We are robots. As someone who has always hated the zoom zoom meta, I really hope they do bring everything down to a reasonable level, without making the game feel clunky. Im pretty sure that the reason I get burnt out pretty quick every league is because constantly going fast, clearing entire screens without thinking gets old fast.
I dont like bossing, I like mapping. It is the core of the game, it should be more engaging than kill everything before it kills you and go so fast that gameplay is like a fever dream. |

" I'm in a decent spot. I'm learning how to make currency this league. 1/2 of it is from essence spam. ad rolling +1 all skill ammys. the other 1/2 is just selling Mats for Bosses and not even farming them or selling the random occasional enlightened card. Then uptrading my Chaos int Div As Far as trading Gear goes this league... If it's not EXACTLY how it is on Maxroll, forget selling it for a reasonable profit. Which caused me to realize a few things. On top of everything else you said. The odds stacked against you are just horrid. Few people aren't even trying to create new builds that aren't filthy rich. Even myself, I like to toy around with builds in PoB and bring them to life in game... no matter how good or bad they are. But to do that, I have to spend every dime now to make it work on a T16 juicy. Where as Before, I could get away with spending a few exalts or even just some chaos to get a good concept. IMO Experimenting with new builds at a cheap budget side of the game is gone. Cookie cutter builds only and that's all that sells or the crafting mats for them. Not everyone has a following of 1k+ people that can support them. :) I usually only play with 1 friend.. sometimes 2. ahaha. Last edited by MokeyII#4088 on Feb 2, 2023, 10:49:37 AM

Another level to this is how fast the player base is leaving in the league.
Mats and Currency I'm selling, I'm selling to the same people over and over. Not by choice, but it's almost as if only a few hundred people are playing and there's no longer a player pool for trading. And Items that normally would sell as Mid-Top Tier items just sit in a stash now. On the plus side, I finally got The Apothecary card after, what feels like, 500+ maps with 8 mod/juiced/scarabs/Inf/Deli. I decided to make a Bosser to farm all bosses. Went with Zizz's Idea for EA Jugg. It clears well, so well it knocks anything worth something into a trash can on GGG's file server so it doesn't drop in my game. I don't have the energy or funds to spend 40 div on a concept character, all I can do is build it in POB and say "If only I could afford to test this league starter idea" lol. Previous leagues, I usually just mindlessly grind for currency and trade for gear, slam here and there, sell and move on. IDK.. I started this league pretty happy. Now, I'm fairly upset with how the game is starting to turn out. I feel the time commitment to fun ratio isn't there any more. It's just a time commitment. And there's no longer a healthy player base. I could give out 50 ideas on what to fix, but I doubt anyone would listen or care. Mainly because I just like going fast and watching things explode or drop my frame rate to 10fps. ahaha. So I don't know the intricate parts to the game to fix anything. |

I feel that you are making a rod for your back a bit here, you dont need 40 divs to make a character, especially not a league starter concept.

" I think at this stage we're past the league starter concept. If you want to make a concept build to clear all content in the game, you're paying a pretty penny. That goes with all builds to clear all content. But even to get something rolling, you're spending. Take a look at prices of all gear you would need. It's all stupid expensive. PoE Has decided to take the IRL approach and inflate it's own currency. It's as easy as that. |

" Bad cause you played a build without any big investment? Like what do you expect to achieve with a fresh league starter build without any big investments? Cyclone is fine, but it needs a good amount of gear and time like pretty much every build. I don't know what you are talking about cause the game has is pretty much the same as it was leagues ago. You start out and grind currency to improve whatever build you play. Always been that way in every single league. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

ggg doesnt set gear prices.
how can it inflate its currency? if ur saying its inflation then it has to be caused by more currency being out there, hence the currency itself is worth less, thats how inflation would work surely? so if theres more currency out there how come you dont have it? someone must have it for it to be effecting item prices, and not just have it but someone must be generating it. if theres more out there its being produced somehow, some sort of content is dropping that currency for it to be in circulation. if you arnt dropping more currency in line with the inflation then that says you havent worked out the effective ways to farm in the current game state? surely theres people out there in ssfhc doing most of this content youre talking about? I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" You mentioned league starter not me, sorry I should have quoted. " I probably have a different perspective since I have played SSF since abyss league, but it really depends on your goals and expectations, but you can clear most things with EA ballista, using just some life / res gear and a stormcloud. |
