I give this game 1 more year then I will leave just like any other mmo out there. Sorry GGG for saying this, but when a game is ruined it is ruined for good.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn might have a thing or two to say about that.

Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn has not even been released yet you have no idea if it was ruined yet...what a dumb analogy.
Why would a Hilock bot go for the waypoint?

edit,
the japanese video mentioned it was cruel.
isn't the new character theory wrong then?

Actually the details of the D3 client were all posted on Ownedcore which I'm am a moderator of and yes they reused a lot of WoW code. Actually the details of the D3 client were all posted on Ownedcore which I'm am a moderator of and yes they reused a lot of WoW code. Yes they had a fully functioning emulator of the beta prior to release. It was simple to RE the D3 client and packets it was done like as soon as the D3 Beta came out. I remember because I was so impressed, which is why I was so surprised that it took as long as it did to develop a decent bot for it and also that the emulator never really took off after release.

Probably shouldn't talk more about it here though, but you are welcome to over on OC if you want.

If they copied WoW that much they wouldn't have had the same issues as in WoW.

A fully working emulator means everything is emulated. Those emulators only were in alpha stages and both got shut down by Blizzards legal team as if they haven't learned about BnetD
And reversing isn't a simple task it's time consuming especially if encounter unknown antidebugging tricks and that's stuff you will only encounter malware or in expensive software.

A white hat is interested in technical discussions and not in creating bots, helping to reverse to accomplish it and especially not interested in idiots like: "U gieb hax I pay for it"

By copying code I mean the functions in D3 were laid out similar to WoW. That makes REing the structures and such much easier to do when you already understand a lot about how the engine works. Even if they make massive changes, the fact that they used a lot of the same file layout and storage techniques allowed people to decode it much easier than starting from scratch like in PoE.

In addition Blizzard made the mistake of releasing the debug symbols in some of their alpha/beta releases, which made it even easier. That doesn't mean that things can't change in the long run, but those things help immensely.

As for white hat vs grey hat vs black hat, its all about how you USE what you discover, not what you actually do. A white hat is someone who often acts like the hackers by reverse engineering the code, but then doesn't exploit it for personal gain. They may or may not inform the coders of their problems, but more importantly they don't cause harm. So not sure what you were trying to say there.

Fact is there are people who have created bots for PoE, but nothing very complex, yet. The hacks that are out are pretty simple function hooks that eliminate some of the built in limits of the client, like max zoom, lighting effects, and minimap display. With the exception of the minimap display those are things that are very difficult for game developers to stop from happening, other than to put other checks in to see if someone modified them after the fact. Mainly because those are things they have to trust the client on. The minimap they probably could put server side and only send the revealed area as it's revealed, but that would increase the bandwidth/lag of minimap display requirements.

I applaud GGG for how secure their game is from hacks because they obviously have learned a lot from other games and designed their game differently. They are paying the price a little when it comes to desync and the effect that latency has over other games, but I think that is a fair price to pay for not having to deal with as many hacks/bots.
