Improve the jewellers/fusings gambling - Orb of Remembrance

This orb will single-handedly raise exalt prices even further than it is now. Crafting top tier tri-elemental weapons and other good stuff will be a breeze with this orb.

@Dakarian,
true enough - I just thought GGG might appreciate the more arduous version of leaving the hard work to the player. It would be no issue to show the snapshot on a mouseover, certainly, since all the values would be stored against the orb.
It's still up to the player to keep track of the original item, especially if they've put it on another toon since the snapshot :)

I had considered people might use it before a Chaos, but it seemed extravagant. I guess it's possible if your mods are OK but not brilliant.

Of course, people probably *would* use this to make it worth using a Regal or Exalt on an item, since if you didn't like the new mod (+1 Mana per kill, anyone?) you could remove it.
However anything that keeps top-level currency being used for crafting rather than trading is probably good. They'd still be down the Regal/Exalt (plus the Remembrance too), so it improves the sink.

Please explain how an orb that doesn't change the likelyhood of getting a good roll but lets you revert back to a past roll makes it easier to get top tier items.

Remember: An item that's 5L does not have a better chance of getting a 6L than any other item.

@Varana

One thing to comment on is the 'rarity' of this orb. I'd actually put it at less rare than Exalt, but not much less (picturing 1-3 after 24 in-game-farming-hours. Give or take RNG) It's a *($)#$ powerful orb so it feels odd to have it be as common as, say, fusings or scourings. Also, you only need one during an entire crafting session (or multiple sessions if you're willing to wait longer or if you ended up with another 'good enough' that you can keep until next session).
There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.

This game really isn't for people like that.

On the rarity, although you might only need one per crafting session, I think it will trigger more such sessions; and a session might have two or even three uses, if you save the starting 4L, then a 5L, then a good but not excellent Alch roll before the Chaosing starts...

So maybe less common than a Scouring but better than a Regal - perhaps drop at the same level as a Chaos, and cost 2:1 at the vendor. I'm figuring these would help at the 60-75 gear wall, and allow people without very much currency to have a chance at improvement without losing what gear they do have, so I don't want it too expensive. And remember it can't make any equipment better - just stop it staying permanently worse!

The main reason people don't like to craft using exalts is because the value of their item takes a drastic fall if it doesn't hit the right stat + roll, with Orb of Rememberence they can keep retrying.

The price of crafting leans more towards losing your well rolled base item rather than the orbs used imo.

Agreed but lower drop rate closer to chaos or gcp
This is a terrible idea with the price you've suggested. This orb would be more useful than an exalted and you have it priced down near fusing?? If this was introduced then perfect (or nearly) items would be so very easy to obtain.

Take for example the case where you got 5 pefect(ish) mods on an item and you want that 6th one, all you have to do is remember/exalt over and over til you get it, which is WAY WAY cheaper than exalting and if failing crafting from white, which means alt/regal/double exalt til you get 5 perfect rolls again. If you don't like this scenario take for example the scenario of having 3 or 4 good rolls and exalt/remembering from there, it makes it so much cheaper.

All this ignores the simplicity that it adds for making your 6L "white linked" you can just always have rememberances that can change it back to the exact colors you want/need at the moment, all you have to do is roll them once.

In summary, its an interesting idea, but it completely ruins the system and would be a terrible idea to implement..
UGG. You're right. It would effectively ruin Scourging and make Excalted use be MUCH easier. Other fe

No. Wonderful idea but I'm in agreement. It really can't do this. sorry.

The devs, however, will. Unless someone has a good suggestion on how to not ruin the economy with it then it won't pass muster once the devs see it.
