Spell suppression and high tier map surviveability

Hello,
this league I have noticed a reoccuring theme of me dying to a super big rare. I am playing Blade vortex and freezing any mob. The problem begins when they have spells which trigger even without them initiating it. (So it doesnt even get reduced by their action speed reductions) Like the fire projectiles or lightning bolts from above.
The only counterplay to this for me is to get spell suppression (or spell block i guess, but that is a lot less reliable), however with the nerfed values on gear and me being a witch i dont have access to this. I need to get t1 mods on all gear pieces and spend 4 points on the skill tree. I dont mind investing into my character, but I cannot (dont have rhe currency to) at the moment and it doesnt feel right.

I absolutelly get the idea of encountering one rare every few maps that poses a real threat, however i would enjoy it a lot more if there was counterplay to it, dodging or some use of a reliable gameplay mechanic.

And I also want to know that it is coming. Archnemesis was bad, but I at least knew by the color and the name and the lenght of the mod name that I am in a really bad situation. Right now I do not know that.

And this all comes to one thing - levelling. If I want to level over 90 I need a "hardcore" character. But not every skill and every build can afford that while also wanting to clear maps.

This are my personal feelings and findings, I dont want to say this is not my fault lr not the fault of the buold i chose. I am not saying it is not possible to overcome with more gear and time invested.
But I am not having as much fun while im getting there.

You trade off damage for survivability - whats the problem? Elementalists deal insane damage, its only fair they get less defenses.
Just go for spellblock with GB and a ES/Life on block shield and your problems are gone.
I played blade vortex witch last league in SSF. I had no issues getting 100% spell suppression. If you need surviveability, than you have to actually invest in it.
Getting 100% suppression on the right side of the tree shouldn't be a problem at all. If you're a witch, it's a little bit more difficult - but not impossible. You have suppression on most of your gear slots, pinnacle implicits, flask and on your tree. Your anoint can also be used. But I also wish they'd add an aura that gave spell suppression - it would make the scaling feel better up until the point you can actually afford the gear. We have auras that give armor, evasion, energy shield, spell block, physical/fire reduction... Why not spell suppression? It's not like an aura is "free", and choices are always good.

That said, there's too much shit going on these days. I like Legion, but I often laugh when I'm half done, because I'm being chased by fire balls, green balls, little lightning men, lightning spikes from the ground and more. There are too many on hit/death mechanics going on these days.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

Because it wouldn't be much of a choice. We had abundant suppression available on gear, what was the result of that? It's either limiting it by tree choices like they do now or make it significantly weaker but more widely available. It's just way too much of a nobrainer otherwise.

Of course it would. It's the decade old choice of a damage aura vs a defensive aura, the choice between stacking spell suppression or mana reservation. Pathing on the tree. Especially if they'd introduce it as a 50% aura.

You need to have 100% resists now because mobs can apply -25% exposure. This means when a mob that is applying exposure hits, your resistances even with suppression are dropping to 50% (with 75% max resist). No, this wasn't in the patch notes but it was confirmed yesterday in another thread.

Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester.

every single mob seems to have some after death effect that one shots you.

its just not fun, if its dead and i killed it, let the damage cease because i won for crying out loud. make the mob harder and stop the stupid 1 shot after death crap.

also some of these rare mobs are way overtuned, im getting 1 tapped over and over and all the mods read are like , " fire pen" and " hinders" yet the thing is one bombing me, i have 9k armour overcapped resists including chaos ... this game is getting ridiculous at needing every little defensive layer just to make a viable build these days, if you dont invest into 1 single thing you die in one shots from it... its stupid theres no skill in that
