if im not mistaken Smite just got its single target cut in half..
Like I said
Always has been this way, wording was just clarified Confirmed by GGG post https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/zfjwci/clarification_of_the_smite_gem_change/ |

Honestly, none of these "cut in half" arguments really make any sense...multistrike is also a support that would allow one "cast" of smite to hit 3-4x. It would be obvious that Ancestral Call would work exactly the same way, regardless of the wording on the skill itself.
it's the SUPPORT that changes how the skill acts, not the wording on the skill itself. |

" NOTE: ive seen GGG clarification, so i was wrong (it seems that way more people thought that way so I wasnt crazy :) ) i do not know if youve been here when shotguning died. back then GGG set ground rules for one 'action' hitting enemies multiple-times. these rules still stand, albeit there are few corner cases (Lightning Strike and Smite are most notable) - and even then it is more due to Ancestral Mirage not the skill itself skills that can hit multiple times are EXPLICITLY labeled as such: https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Shrapnel_Ballista check the skill description There are some ground rules - Multistrike nor Ancestral Call break them. They might be obfuscated for people who were not there to read LENGTHY and detailed GGG reasoning for shotguning removal. things like Creeping Frost AOE overlaping from GMP and Ball lightning NOT hitting by more than one ball from the cast still respect these rules the wording Smite uses now (new one) is consistent with these rules and suggests this is the last patch with Ancestral Mirage being able to 'double down' on basic attack (and im fine with that - this interaction makes other Strikes FAR worse in single target area) |

" 90% of it is just peoples distrust to GGG. Neither of the wordings clearly allows or denies the interaction with ancestral call but with how things are going lately people immediately think that the wording change is done to "fix" that interaction without people noticing. Apparently that's not the case this time but since it's now clear that the interaction is unintended it's probably just a matter of time before it's removed. Can't have melee getting too powerful afterall. |

So ironically, if no one complained about this stealth nerf, it never would be fixed (as it sounds like GGG wasn't aware of it happening)... :D

They claim it's equally inaccurate wording which it's not. It's less accurate.
They also claim it's a bug which would put it around the 8 years old mark. Sadly I can half believe that claim. Then there's the "Hydrosphere incident" after GGG removed all shotgun capacity from similar effects. Anyone who understands exactly how to read a PoE skill would think the same outcome.
