Wow.

That's... that's not great policy.

Well there is a flip side to that --> a person is 100% in control on who he wants on his friend list. No other player can ask for changes on that + GGG isn't allowed to talk to a random player about what another player is "doing" .....

He migh have "friended" a person to put a note on him to make sure "it" never happens again........

That's not a flip side, especiall in this case. This individual was concerned enough about the situation and other players behavior, that they sent an email to support.

The entire premise of your thread was that people can abuse the friend system to stalk and harrass, without the other players control. They can mitigate messaging (ignore function), but that's it.

I mean on the "flip side" what possible benefit does GGG see in doing/ allowing this, and not providing solutions to concerned players?

No because I knew it worked like this.

My reason for this thread is clearly listed in my first post !!

However many players don't know that this is indeed how it works.

- Is that "ok" that it works like this ?
- Does it "violate" a persons privacy ?
- Should there be a function to block people that is "monitoring you" ?

This is in your OP.

So yeah. No it isnt "Ok", yes it's a privacy issue, and what's the upside in providing another player a tool to monitor, stalk, and/or harass you?

What exactly is the "flip side" argument here? You think its ok?

I think an easier solution is to implement some "invisible for everyone" functionality. People wouldn't find your items on trade because you're marked as "offline", but at least you can do your thing without being worried who see you being active in game when you don't want to. This should come with some limitations like not being able to join global chat while "invisible".

Did you know you can get ID banned for doing this? This violates the First Amendment (privacy rules in other countries) in FULL.

This is not OK & friend lists should be globally purged next update. Doesn't matter if you're mutual friends.

well if you are so sure of this, then it should be very easy for you to get "compliance" from GGG to this legal claim.
However I don't think this is the case, but like I have told others in other threads please start the legal process to fix this if the case is so "cut and dry"......
I've always found it better to NEVER friend people in games who are in your IRL orbit. There's always someone who will relentlessly stalk you for no legitimate reason, whether a crazy/envious person or someone with a perceived grievance. Then you're left with zero options other than to start a brand new account if you want to keep playing the game.
