Did you know friend list worked like this (I did) !!
" I often do this to wait until someone is in their hideout before I send them a trade request. Now if it's a special item I'm really looking for, I'll even add them to friends to keep a check on them. They won't get away from ME!!! MHAUHAHAHAHA!!!!!! ;-) Did you try turning it off and on again?

All the way since the beginning of this game, I added streamers to my friend list, and they in turn would update their status if they were doing something interesting or exciting that people might want to watch, so you could tune into their stream and watch it. Watching people do hard/risky content in hardcore was fun. So yeah I always knew it worked this way and don't really care that it does.

i hate it i've had people harass me on POE Standard because they knew i was female. and only way they knew i was online was it tells you when they log in without your consent.
This only game where this is a thing and its kinda wrong as it has more bad then good |

" I assume you reported those people so they could get chat "banned". But I see your problem since ignore list can get full fast. They should extend that to like 500+....... |

"How can someone tell if you're female in an online game? I have mostly girls characters (Which, Scion, Ranger) with female names. Anyway, if you have any items listed for trade, anyone can tell if you're online without adding you to their friends list. If you don't like the messages you receive, you can add whoever you want to your ignore list. Last edited by 6_din_49#4066 on Nov 15, 2022, 4:42:54 AM

" What does it matter how they found out? It doesn't preclude the interactions subsequent that have been harassing. Maybe it was a quick trade interaction, or chat, or maybe she was in a guild, or discord. Or any number of reasons. The behavior is the issue, not how they found out she was female. That's super weak, and borderline blaming the victim here. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

" I do the same if the rare item has exactly what I need and the price is right. It really sucks though if they don't respond and just raise the price repeatedly. friend and ignore are so useful. Gutting Gameplay Gradually

I like it being like this! You can add "Chris" and watch the man himself enjoy the vison on some league starts.

Other gacha-funded games have a secondary system where you can "follow" a player without their consent, using their shared resources and visiting their rooms and whatnot. If you get followed, you are given the option to follow back.
That is 100% PoE's PRIMARY and only "friend" system. Think about that. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I once had an unpleasant situation because of this, too.
Someone has messaged me asking whether they could 'have' my character name. It was a nope, I liked it. Then they started begging for it and even suggested they would pay for it. It was unpleasant. I don't know if I added them earlier for some reason or not, but it was clear they can see me on their friend list. I had a lot of anxious times because of it, worrying my character name would get sniped when I reuse it and that person happens to be online at the time. I even shot an e-mail to Support asking if they can remove me from this person's friendlist, but got a negative answer. Funnily enough, this person later turned out kind and supportive, even freeing their own names when people asked. I'll tell you more: (last time I checked) the ignore feature is weird as well. If you're ignored by someone, you don't even know. You can get suddenly ignored by someone and you won't even know, sending messages into the void instead. When they try to send you something, they get an error saying they ignored this person, but you? Nope. I don't remember how friendlist reacts to ignores, but I don't doubt it's weird as well. I really hope some of these features will get looked into before PoE 2 launches. Or don't I? |
