Archnemesis: Herald-minions must be nerfed. Here is why.

@Alendert

I play SC/HC/HCSFF and HCSFF Mayham. This was done in SC to do the calculation of how much raw damage (obvious on a normal map and standard is t16) one herald can deal.

I looked your profil up with 2 chars. OFC those heralds are not dangerous to your Lv. 88 Juggernaut because of your Ubreakable ascendancy (And I saw no one single damage note in your tree only defense). But keep in mind there are also 6 other classes with 18 other ascendancys in the game. And the second char with your necromancer Lv.90 would be two tap. That you are able to relate to this topic you first have to reach T16 maps and come to the real end-game. Killing bosses like Atziri/Shaper or any breach Lord etc to compare how unbalanced it is.

I also played this league as Inc, Hier, Guard and Necro, none of them had troubles with this mechanic (delete heroes when they rip). I actually farm t16 maps, killed Atziri yesturday and SE today.

Btw I have 23 dmg nodes in my tree, made Jug to test how tanky he is.

Thanks for the breakdown of how the mod actually works.
Its pretty much single handedly killed all my HC characters since archnem was introduced.
Are you sure spell suppression is even mitigating anything, I was starting to suspect it was tagged as environment damage or something like the dd from stygian mobs witch can not be blocked or suppressed.

@sevens67
I made an update about the spell suppression and range of the totem.

Additional I'm mistakenly wrote that the totem blocks player. That is not correct. You can phase trough.
What really screws you is when you have more than one on you at at time. I had a situation where 3 of them popped up on me at the same time. The problem was I had already used a movement skill to try and get away from them and when the 3 popped up they surrounded me on 3 sides and I could not move, my death was near instantaneous.

I've said it before and I GGG just don't reads it or they just don't care, but the reason Kripparian stopped playing HC was because the game became unfair. He started getting killed by things that were unavoidable. What gets me is Chris Wilson seems to only care if the economy feels fair to the player, but not the game. He said, 'a fair economy is sacrosanct and exploits, cheats, etc will ruin a game because who wants to wake up in the morning and find all of your hard work gone to someone that cheated'.

He doesn't seem to relate that same thinking to what's killing you in game. What of when all of your hard work is undone because the game has become unfair? I guess that's because he doesn't seem to think we see it they way we do, as the game is the one cheating AKA the developers.

I ran into a quadruple tormented mob with 2 Archnemisis modifiers with 40% phys as cold and 20% phys as Chaos in a lvl 34 area yesterday in Mayhem that was a 20 Tormented spirits zone. When the game forces you to stop playing for an hour because you can't change the modifiers of the zone I think is when the game has went of the rails. I died when I first got in there to 2 double tormented rares, but when I got the X4 rare, he was so fast, and there was no way around him. It was like having a character at 200% speed with a 1 shot slam going. Just impossible to deal with at lvl 36. There is being challenged and the game being slightly unfair, then there is "Just getting nuked from Orbit with a laser". This was the latter.

Unless it's on CD and you're not playing a Raider. You can always come up with some way you could have lived, but what matters is what is reasonable. Are we playing Path of Exile or are we playing "Avoid spawning death pylons"? If you stack a load of things just to avoid one mechanic that can spell certain death, then you're having to ignore the other death mechanics that are more likely to kill you. Anyway if we all started to use phasing to avoid death pylons GGG would just nerf phasing, that's what they do.

But people play HC SSF and get lvl 100, some of them also kill Uber Bosses, so game is fair. If you don't respect some game mechanics, ignore building defence or made mistakes during fights your characters sometimes rip, it's totally ok. Don't tell that game is unfair or GGG do something wrong if you can't beat even a cruel lab in HC.

And thats the reason it will get nerfed. It is similar to the metamorph league. When you chose the wrong samples you were dead with just one hit.

The problem with heralds are when the screen is cluttered and you don't see them coming until it is too late and because they spread around you are difficult to dodge. This happened to me when I was playing with minions. In particular lighting golems and shock nova make it difficult to detect and they are damn fast to explode. The only viable strategy to avoid them is to run around and never stops which is very bad for some builds.
Maybe if the heralds show a visible aura on the ground it will be more manageable. Also if the damage doesn't stack between pilars it won't be a instant dead and won't be so punishing.
Heralds are totally fine, stop crying. AN mechanics are awesome, they make PoE way more interesting.
