As someone with a spinal cord injury and numb hands -- This game has become almost unplayable
As someone with a literal disability its disheartening to see the game taken from me league by league.
Above all else -- the impact that ddestroyed my enjoyment of the league was the maven degen change... The maven degen that shuts off healing and life regen is literally insurmountable for me. My hands will NEVER functiuon well enough to deal with Maven and this change. And maven is literally core gameplay -- you are expected to kill maven just for the watchstone. It is not bonus content, it's mandatory to access the game (Game starts at 4 watchstones to me). Regular maven at least is 100% core game, expected tp be killed. So how did I get on before this change? The only way I've been able to do all content since I started playing POE was outgearing the content. Becoming a glass cannon god, or a defense laden zdps build. I can barely sit without pain medications. My hands are such a wreck I dont even bother fixing most typos anymore. Im often too numb to accurately feel the keyboard keys... That means my characters will ALL eventually stand in stupid. With the new maven change that means 100% death rate. Went from killing maven for all my friends who couldn't do it to unabkle to beat maven regardless of how geared I am. Sitting for HOURS of actual physical pain to enjoy a little time in the game I enjoy, only to now have core gameplay completely removed from me. My biggest concern as someone who needs pain medication just to sit and enjoy this game, is that every single league I hjave to work harder and harder to get the same results as the league before. And with my back, and hands, the task is becoming insurmountable. Everything is so much work, so much time, anmd for me a lot of pain. And now it's all for nothing, as bits of the base game are being removed from me. The game suited me fine for years... now it's becoming insurmountable as you just can't outgear content anymore -- the only way my crippled body could handle the game was outgearing it. My back and hands are NOT getting better.. GGG, please stop stripping the game from me. I live in constant pain laying in bed most of my days. Been that way for years. The only thing I had to look forward to since my injury has been a FEW videogames... MOSTLY poe... And now core elements are being removed from me :( Last bumped on Oct 18, 2022, 5:26:42 PM

They are stripping the game from a lot of people because Chris thinks he has this wonderful vision for the game.
I'm surprised you aren't having a fit with the way some of those AN mobs can be if you can't react quick enough. This game is becoming frustrating enough for people without a disability. I can't imagine what it's like for you to try and play it these days. |

" Exactly what I think. And since my "time-investment-limit" has been reached, I stopped playing. (I started having physical problems due to PoE but nothing compared to your problem. I can see though how spending a lot of time in a certain position isn't beneficial at all.) “Human decency is not derived from religion. Look, I feel you and I understand your frustration. It sucks that you are in this position.
But PoE is not a "right". It is a game that you as the player and consumer can choose to engage with or not. It does not have to cater to every possible player type. Physical, mental, and other differences exist but it is not the developer's job to cater to the lowest common denominator (unless of course, that is their goal). I don't want games that autoplay themselves, involve 2 buttons max, etc. Think about playing a musical instrument. A physical limitation can determine which, if any, music instruments you can functionally play. Should every musical instrument in the world cater to that one person that might be unable to play at a certain speed or a certain way? No, that's ludicrous. In certain situations, that limitation can be overcome, but that is ALWAYS on the side of the player/performer, and NOT the instrument itself. You choose to play the game, period. There are plenty of other games. You may love this one to death, but if you personally cannot physically play the game that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the game itself. It means it's time to move on. I know this is a very blunt and in-your-face post, but I really feel like we as players (and even society as a whole) have forgotten the difference between "choice" and "right" Last edited by jsuslak313#7615 on Oct 17, 2022, 10:19:07 PM

" very much agree just to chip in my cousin has special needs, he doesn't understand how to do the Labyrinth by himself. the traps are confusing and very punishing. has that stopped him from playing Acts 1-3 Forever? nope. he still loves it hasnt killed kitava yet im an melee strike hc griefer, never killed an actual boss ( Elder, Sirus, Maven ) . yellow maps at best. has that stopped me , nope we make our own fun with our limits seriously this game is really exciting, but the reality is that its just gotten harder over the years to my melee brothers hold your wallet until actual melee is addressed

" Indeed, this recent trend of society insisting on cathering to absolutely EVERYONE will not end well, pratically every culture in the world have the saiyng that its impossible to please everyone and its not something one should ever aim for. We all suck at something, society shoudnt make it so that everything is always available to everyone Also, its not true that 4 voidstones are absolutely required to play the game: Tons of people spend a good portion of each league with just 2, if you can get 3, that is actually a perfectly playable position. The game dont start at T16, you can still farm for good stuff at any map above T14 and 3 voidstones puts most of the atlas on that level. Sure it kinda sucks if you really like strand maps, but its still totally playable. The big deal in 4 voidstones is being able to place all sextant slots, but you can still juice things nicely with 3 And ofc, if you dont mind, you can hire someone to help with maven for you. If its non-uber maven, there are people out there with dps in such a level that even if dodging the rotating beans is beyond you, they can still have you just focusing on not diyng to the rotating beans and melt her before you actually die(or at least, before you use up all portals) |

Ill say that I feel for you and your condition but I have to agree with the sentiment of the other posters.
If devs tried to account for every possible disability/problem players have we would be left with auto battlers. |

You should certainly consider a different setup.
Taking medication to maintain performance in a game is a slippery slope. Speaking from experience. You have a much higher risk of tolerance issues which will put you through even more hell. I quit playing a game because my health comes first. My issue is anxiety based which cannot be fixed by changing my setup. Try a cordless keyboard + mouse. Get a big wall mount arm for your monitor. Something so you can chill in a good position. That's all I can really say. My back is scuffed too but it's the opposite. I can't stand for more than about 40min.
