the hints i gave were just to make sure it's everything ok from your side, blaming the provider is always second cause it can be difficult to prove they dropped the packets.

Right so it seems a node Orange (major French ISP) is using is probably dropping packets or ignoring requests (or failing to forward requests), and is affecting the whole South East of France (possibly more than that, but the few people soupline talked to were all in the SE of France)
Switching to a VPN fixes the issue and you can connect straight away. Orange doesn't have any support for regular users for that kind of problem, and since it works after 1 or more retries, it's highly unlikely they'll do anything (unless it's a hardware that is starting to fail, and will be eventually fixed when they get to it, hopefully) Is there anything GGG can do in those cases ? Funny but pretty f*****g annoying thing, when you click "Exit to log in screen" or "Exit to character selection", you also contact the same server as the login gateway, and you can't log off or change character ...

I am having the same issue since a few days, and it is pretty fraking annoying. Up to six "Unexpected Disconnection error" every time I try to login, on any server, and also cannot logout (full logout or logout to char selection) at all. It takes several minutes to start the game. SFR here and zero problem on any other online activities. What can we do about this ?
