✤ IRON HIDEOUT COMPETITION 10 ✤ Theme: Opposites ✤ WINNERS

I thought it would be interesting to take two opposite factions of PoE lore like the Vaal and Templars while exploring the concept of "reflections" introduced in this expansion. The Lake gave me the perfect opportunity to justify the interaction between these two factions (which never came into contact directly) and twist them while keeping their opposing themes.



In one hand we have the Vaal civilization, which never came into contact with the Beast and the Virtue Gems. That means no human sacrifice, no temples or developed technology. Their culture is influenced by the contact with the Azmeri and not the other way around. To show this I decided to go for a forest theme, mixing some Vaal and Azmeri elements, and a green hue, since the Vaal are mostly associated with the color red.



And then we have the Templars... Even though Kitava is Innocence's opposite/enemy in game, I decided to go for Sin/The Beast. That way I could work with some organic elements which complemented the "corruption" theme (like Beast decos) and some religious imagery (the stained glass deco). I added some machinery to further contrast with the other faction, which was more "nature" focused.
