Last league I played was Betrayal. What did I miss?
Even though I got to level 80+, I never go to true endgame. Never beat a t8+ map, never got the final lab, never even seen an uber.
I'm not a pro, but I could say that I know the basics. So, explain it like I'm five... - What changed? - Important mechanics from past and current leagues I shouldn't ignore? - What do I need to know before I decide on a build? - I like fast and chaotic builds like Flicker Strike, Frostblades, Vaal Double Strike. Not really fond of pure magic. Which build should I try? I got around 3 divs. I'm thinking on trying out https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3079012 - There are two friends interested on playing. They know nothing, which builds would you recommend for them this league? - If I want to support them both, are aura bots still viable? I may have more questions after these. Thank you so much for you attention! I like handholding and giving out headpats. Last bumped on Sep 22, 2022, 6:37:34 PM

Biggest changes:
-Monsters got buffed ,especially in act 1 and map/pinnacle bosses. More res/hp. -Player defenses got nerfed. Auras cost more and CWDT and auto curse Marks use mana as well. Flasks got nerfed including unique flasks. Numbers got reduced. -Crutch defense was added to compensate. It's called Spell suppression and reduces spell damage by 50%.It has a chance like Spell Evade but can be capped to 100% meaning you take only half of spell damage by all sorts of elements(phys, elemental, chaos) all the time. -new endgame bosses + influence monsters: Sirus+ his Elder Slayers / Maven / New Eldritch Bosses. All of these have their separate influence monsters like Elder and Shaper back in the day. -Mouse cursor MTX was added for free and paid to make it more noticeable when the screen gets a muddy blur. -Atlas has now a skill tree where you can customize your personal way how to map and even block unwanted league mechanics - and more stuff i'm missing Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0#5532 on Sep 22, 2022, 10:24:54 AM

The game has changed so completely since betrayal that there’s no point in comparing balance. You’ll need to learn modern builds and modern ways of building. I’m not even sure if Path of Building existed back in Betrayal league haha.
On the game side, there’s a lot more content. There have been many leagues that went core since betrayal. The endgame has been revamped multiple times since betrayal. Itemization has become more complex and crafting more powerful. The endgame mechanics are different and there are many more bosses. But the most significant aspect of the new endgame is: There’s a passive tree. For your maps. Use it to make content you like appear more often and become more rewarding. The game is a lot more fun than it was in Betrayal league and if you manage to make a successful build you will have a good time. |

You missed both Harvest and Ritual, arguably peak Path of Exile. But on the other hand you can't miss what you never experienced so that's a blessing for you. Game is in a good spot though and the Atlas tree alone is worth checking out.
