Is it still possible to play with no spell suppression, 75% max res?
Just a question,
it seems to me it became impossible to survive in T16 / boss fight without having 90% max elemental resistance or 100% spell suppression AND big amour or evasion + Big pool life . So is it mandatory to invest on max cap or spell suppression ? Or trying to increase life pool to 6000/7000 (or higher) could be enought ? Last bumped on Sep 15, 2022, 9:05:42 AM

75% res dont mean anything anymore. i keep dying as well. determination/tempest shield doesnt really help much either.
it seems like they expect everyone to use melding of the flesh |

That's what i thought.. there is an infinity possible of builds and we are forced to play a few meta tanky build... Or keep playing yellow Map and nothing more, with the great no loot vision of GGG..!

" last league i played RF and ran purity of elements(no melding) so my res was higher than 75% and i died a lot less...75% just wont cut it anymore. |

Yes. My only defense layer is a huge life pool.

" I think it is mandatory to invest in max cap or spell suppression OR block with hp/es recovery on block. Big armor is good too. Maximizing life/es is not as important as getting immunities. Immunity to chaos damage, critical strikes, elemental ailments, hexes... Zizaran can run around with 10K hp/es and still get wrecked by chaos damage. 8 mod maps are the new alch and go. For bossing you are fine until Ubers with 75 res and sufficient base EHP pool
Its modded maps where you start to need spell suppression, +max res and as many defensive layers as you can get because a modded monster pack has vastly more damage output than a boss albeit split into separate components. Same for the challenge content type invitations, Maven herself is fine but the guardians/conquerors/breachlords/synthete type contracts weren't balanced they were just added to the game and as such require a much higher threshold for getting piped to overcome. You see these posts fairly often but I don't think the players that make them have actually tried a boss with 90 max res to understand how completely busted it is to even have 90 of a res for T16 content of course it isn't required. Defensive requirements are far too high for general play right now but the problem isn't at bosses, a bad combo AN monster dishes out significantly more than most bosses. Or you just don't run the more dangerous mods if you can't handle them.

No spell suppression, yes, you can do whatever you want.
No 75% res is suicidal. 90% res is nice but not necessary. Investing in life pool only is kind of useless. Without any form of damage mitigation almost anything can one shot you no matter your life total. So yes, defense layers are pretty much mandatory but you don't have to run the same as everybody else. Except for 75% res, that's pretty much basic. |

If we are only looking at the realm of "is it possible," yes it's very possible. I have a spell totem guy this league with no significant armour, evasion, spell suppression, or more than 75 all res. I'm not chaos capped (60s). It's not anywhere close to a meta build. I can clear any of the content and I can do Ubers (just need to get around to doing more of them, been lazy about respeccing atlas as I just discovered Legion farming can be fun haha).
In fact on league start, I don't bother capping my ele res to 75 until red maps. Last league I did the same (different spell totem skill but still the same idea) and leveled that guy to 100 (I don't do rotations/carries/etc. I level the old fashioned way through maps solo.) This league my tree is done at 98 so I don't care to level more. What's my secret? I don't get hit. Because I don't need to be there to do my damage and the brick wall I hide behind in hectic fights is often my friend as that trumps any armour/evasion/whatnot you can get. For big bosses, I do so much damage the fight doesn't last long. If you are looking at "is it possible for any kind of build," no that's suicidal. If you need to be in close to medium range AND stationary to do your damage, you're gonna need all of that defense and then some. Last edited by TemjinGold#1898 on Sep 13, 2022, 10:57:07 AM
