Should Magic Find be removed from the game (Poll)

I personally feel that MF is the root of many of the major imbalance problems now hitting the game.

I put a poll up and it seems a lot of people agree. What are your thoughts?

We have a reddit thread going that I think has some good points for- and against.

removing magic find is a bad idea. it was fine all these leagues up until archnemesis went core and only now people complain. maybe fix archnemesis instead of removing mf, something that has been a core part of any OG arpg and is a reason why many people, including myself and everyone in our guild, play the game.

Was it though? Really? MF has fed a hypersaturated RMT market for years now. commercial groups sit 24/7 MF sessions and farm for 100s of times the loot a normal non-MF player will see drop. The ability to meta your way to ridiculous currency and scarce item drops has always been imbalanced and arguably the primary reason for many of the GGG nerfs, especially the stealth ones.

MF and MF_Cull meta builds are what drive the RMT / Black market. Currency sellers thrive in POE because they can play MF builds 24/7 and swamp the market with items that 99.99% of players will never see in the season. The majority of nerfs from GGG are reacting to that and attempting to mitigate it.

The community is now pushing back against those nerfs - After repeated seasons of "fun reduction in the name of balance" We are now seeing the "final straw" for most players with the Kalandra nerfs.

AN is arguably another drastic (and -failing-?) attempt by GGG to restore the end-game loot drop balance, by accelerating a philosophy of "greater difficulty = Greater Reward" with every season. How's that working out? AN Is here to stay: GGG are committed to it - but when it exists BESIDES MF then it is simply too extreme. Would it be in such a bizarre state if MF were simply removed and loot was rebalanced?

I sincerely believe that MF doesn't need to exist for good loot to drop in the end-game if difficulty can be ramped up correctly - something GGG have committed to with AN, no matter how divisive that decision has ultimately been.

I am 100% for the complete removal of IIR and IIQ from gear.
It has had a very poor track record throughout the years.

At the very least, it needs a very serious and critical reassessment. MF gear is conceptually the same as it was in Diablo 2. And that's 20 years. Think about that for a minute.

Remember the times we had the Increased Item Quantity gem? It had its merit because juicing was almost non-existent back in the day. But now the tools are here and boy are they numerous! So it only makes sense to complete the transition and keep the juicing to map device/fragments/scarabs etc and character power to equipable items.
Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way.

I kinda' like the idea to link IIQ/IIR/Culling Strike to some skill, or having IIR/IIQ on gear - if you want to lose half of your damage to get 50% more items per map, good for you!

But I don't like the idea to swap gear, swap character, or calling a MF squad for a specific kill.

100% agree!

MF is fine, but the FOMO that makes you feel like you 'have to' gear swap or call an MF 'friend' is a HUGE turnoff and destroys the whole flow of the game. I don't really know how to fix this, though.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Your opinion does not matter.
A casual gamer
No.
Only if your favorite build gets deleted too :P
(thats what this would do to me)
And i'd never really wish someone's build to be removed, that would just be too sad.
Innocence forgives you

How about the opinion of several hundred players though?
