Only Play Standard League?

This is something I don't understand.
People talk about a fresh start, so why not start at STD? You say you already have everything in STD, but when starting a new character in a new league, will that automatically destroy everything you have in STD? No, you still have everything, you've already done all the content, and you can still start a new character.

The only logical reason to play a league is for anyone who wants to be able to play with a more hectic trade and take on the challenges. Maybe the league mechanics are cool, but this is very rare.
