Mobs are hitting way too hard and its honestly unfun as hell

I dont understand why you guys ninja buffed monster dmg and arch nemesis mods

I played plenty of last league and I can tell you I was only really getting rekt at the beginning PRE all nerf arch nemesis

After 3 balance passes it didn't feel as crazy

As of right now, It feels like GGG honestly reverted many nerfs and arch nemesis are feeling like pre nerf again

You want to slow me down? Fine

They can be tanky, that's fine

But a magic skeleton mage should not hit me for 5k dmg in an unmodded map

Please fix the game

All monster dmg needs to come down... WAY fucking down

It's not uncommon for there to be multiple extra physical damage as an element. This can be quite dangerous when paired with chaining and some nasty archnem mods. Tack that onto some of the league mechanics and you have an entire nightmare waiting to murder you.

Then you get to tier 2.

Today i played for an hour. Went into baran map, cleared a bit, cleared screen, lifted my hands for stretch and i see how lone surived white unbuffed with no damage mods skeleton archer just casually hits me for 1.8k damage , consistently, and thats after arctic armor which means it hits for 2.25k. Was surpirsed.

(Map was tier 14 with no dmg mods and no auras nearby).

I guess i should stop playing ev build..

Im tired of being one shoot on tier 9 to 11, I have 4.2 k of life, 90% phys res, capped ele and chaos res, capped block and spell block at 40% and yet every time a magma barrier mob appears, a pack of toxic magic mobs or just any archnemesis mod that increases damage I have to run and I run with several taunting zombies, AW, and other minions and it doesn't matter I get one shot at least three times per map.

I can agree to endgame bosses to have this kind of damage but not normal monsters with shit rewards.

Also with defences consistently nerfed on every league and monsters being buffed on every league this game is unplayable beyond the meta builds that play onion simulator with defence layers, I can't enjoy doing a fun build because I have to think of ailment negation, physical negation, evasion, elemental negation, chaos negation, life or ES, block, suppression, movement and to match all of that with the stats I need for my build in the current status of the crafting it's not fun.

50% of the time I don't even know what killed me.
I'm a newly returning player, having been away for a few years.
getting back into the game, I decided I wanted to become more familiar with it than ever before. really get into maps, and see what all the endgame content was about.

I followed builds, and tried to focus on tanky ones. but even after looking for +life gear, and maxing out elemental resists, even early tier maps had me dying regularly.
enemies either dont hit me, or destroy me within 4 hits.
most often, its a burst of hits, difficult to see because of all the screen clutter, and occurs over less than 2 seconds.

I want a tanky character to try and ease into the game, but even focusing my character on it, guard skills, auras, endurance charges, I'm putting in so much effort, losing so much other potential, and its doing barely anything.

I dont even know where to go from here to improve my defenses.
the build guide has suggestions, but they require a massive currency investment to buy, and I dont even know how to go about acquiring them ingame.

this was of course, a melee build. I've since discovered ranged builds have a much better time at surviving, even with a fraction of the defenses.

I want to play a melee build, but it feels like the gear required to be somewhat survivable is way beyond me.

I want to try all sorts of builds, but I dont feel like I have that option with the current state of the game.
this is just you opinion

it sounds like you should stop following builds and start to learn how the game works, think for yourself and gear or skill yourself to overcome the content

While I agree that everyone needs to learn the game mechanics, to be honest the current overpower of some archnemesis mods have reduced the available build variety to a subset that are able to deal damage while implementing all the required defence layers and this subset gets smaller after each balance manifesto.

I love the variety of builds that PoE allows you to create but as of now with the current status of the crafts and archnemesis it requires an effort that returning or casual players shouldn't have to take to enjoy the game so I don't agree with you based on the fact that a very niche knowledge with a high barrier of entrance is not a feasible thing for the majority of players of the game which are casual players.

Also your comment provides 0 help to the person.

I don't know your current progres, are you on maps or are you on campaign? you can always farm some chaos with the chaos recipe, purchase a good base (lvl 83 or 86) and as of now just toss some essence > scouring until you hit some decent stats, try to have phys reduction to 90% (a good armour + determination + granite flask should help) cap your resistances and ideally you should have block or another defensive layer, on this league spell suppress is quite hard to cap for melee builds so I would recommend you going with block.

It is also very important to mitigate elemental ailments since things like freeze or shock will make your killing faster.

Set up a molten shell + cast when damage taken with high armour it will ad a nice barrier.

Last but not least, check for a way to generate endurance charges, there are som nice mechanics of damage per endurance charge plus each endurance charge will give you physical mitigation and other nice defensive stats.

I hope this helps!
