Can we just all agree to make harvets lifeforce the new main currency?

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, because I haven't read every post, but a lot of what people seems to be missing here, is that obviously, there isn't "one" person, or even a group of people who decide what the main currencies are. The main reason why the main currencies are the main currencies is because of crafting and what people do with them as well as free trade.

There isn't a group of people here that even if they all came together and agreed on making something a main currency, would actually make it work in the actual game, unless the group was massive enough, but the truth is that there might be inconvenience in make this shift anyway, that can't really be figured out before playing the actual league as well.

The question is, why the main trading currency needs to be something that drops from/in every possible strategy?

Because players WILL feel forced into that path - and/or forced into more trading - extra trading steps. There's SO much cool freedom in the game now when it comes to what to play. To take away some of that freedom, even if it's only psychologically, would be a bad move.

Just because players play in trade league, doesn't mean that they gladly want another step when it comes to exchanging their currencies.

It wouldn't be an extra step, and it wouldn't change the value of the essence currency or the "obligation" to do that content. Whether essence is used as a trading currency or not it will still have the same value, which is decided by supply and demand. Like most people didn't get many if any exalts as drops, nor did most of them craft with the currency, but it was still the main currency because the value of it compared to stack size made it convenient. If the value of exalts compared to stack size aren't convenient anymore, people will use something else, and it probably wont be divines because those will have too much value now and wont work for accurate pricing. Harvest essence makes a lot of sense.

Though realistically I don't think the value of exalts will change enough for it not to be used as the main currency still, it might even work better now. It would be like an economy where most things are under $10, with only pennies and $5 bills used for trading, transitioning to a system with pennies and $1 bills. Exalts are going to be the new $1 bill, while divines might come into play as $10 bills, and chaos remains unchanged as the pennies. And of course mirrors are the benjamins.

It's so hard to predict what exalts will do. With metamod currency shifting so much, I could see them dropping to like 10-20c. But then people wouldn't target farm brothers stash and stuff so much, so then we could see the value shift up to like 40-50c. But then it becomes worth farming again, so then people target farm it and it goes back down lol.
Edited out since the crafts available in this new patch are now known:

Since all the flexible and semi-deterministic crafts have been removed, and of the remaining crafts, the most useful high-end crafts are gated behind spawning Oshabi multiple times, I strongly doubt ordinary lifeforce will have any value whatsoever. People will sell it in bulk to lowbies who just want to gamba cards. it won't even measure up to the comparable deafening essence corresponding to the reforge you choose, because at least deafening essences guarantee a tier for their mod.

I suppose if you want to assume the role of a third-world country and focus on crude natural resource extraction, you could buy up all the crude juice and use it to mass reforge tons of cheap starter bases with 1-2 good affixes, then sell those in bulk to specialist crafters to factory-produce a few finished pieces for lavish prices or for mirror service.
