game crashes and shuts down computer immediately upon startup
I just did a factory reset of my computer/fresh install of Windows a week ago and re-installed the game. Whenever I try to play the game crashes almost immediately and restarts my computer.

Describe at what point does the PC crash?
After launcher patches and clicking "play" button? Before login screen? On character select? Trying to enter the game? Do you get a black PoE screen? Blue screen of death? Check the following things: Update video card drivers (Also what drivers are you using? AMD or Nvidia) Check if PoE config file is pointing to correct video card on launch Check if it's pointing to correct display on launch Could try deleting the config file and let it create a new one on launch. i launch the game successfully. I watch the GGG logo. I can even get to the character select screen usually. It varies how long it takes but it's never more than about ten seconds before it happens. It doesn't seem to be tied to anything happening in the game itself.

there was a new driver for my gpu available. At first glance this may have fixed it. I'll try again tomorrow.

The driver update did not resolve the issue. I guess the fact I was able to get in for a few minutes last night was a fluke.
I get no warnings, no screens, just my computer is off, and then restarts after a moment. config file is pointing to correct video adapter but I do not see an entry for display (the game comes up on the correct display). I am going to delete the config file and see if that helps. |

Don't want to jinx it but it looks like it is working now. I will keep an eye on it.

Hi,
I am not sure if you are still having the issues. I have had this issue since a June POE patch and have not been able to find a solution. My issue may be different, but what you could do to kind of narrow it down is check to see if you have a windows dump file located in c:\windows\minidump and see if there are any dump files after a crash. You can download Windbg from the Microsoft store to read the dump file. You can also download a program called Whocrashed to read it. It should give you a reason for the crash. |

Same thing is happening to me again.
This happens every now and then but when I restart my PC it launches fine. Now, restarting does not help and it auto crashes after the bar gets about 2-12% updated with patch. I have all the latest NVidia drivers and other Windows-related updates. Tried deleting the config and launch files and redownloaded from PoE website but same insta-crash. Don't want to uninstall and and re-download again but might try that as a last resort. |

I would be curious about what caused it. Check your minidump files. Even though it may not Blue Screen Of Death. It should still leave a dump file.

It's still happening to me. And I'd love to tell you what the minidump file says, but it doesn't look like I have one.
