Hideouts are a feature of the game, just like BUILDS are a feature of the game.

Players copy builds all over the place. No one has EVER complained that their build has been copied.

Yet hideouts deserve different treatment? That logic is severely flawed.

actually ive literally seen players complain on this exact forum about their builds being copied, which is why some made profiles private

In my 10 years playing this game and being on the forum, I have never once seen a forum post of someone complaining that builds are copied. People make their account private for various reasons, but the most common is because the forum trolls attack anything you say by tearing apart whatever build you show them.

I challenge you to link me a post specifically of someone complaining that other people are stealing their build...

ive seen it, you can choose to believe me or not, i dont really care. and yes i know its not the most common reason, but ive seen it happen

and no thanks. im not really the type who will waste time over an internet argument where i have nothing to gain

anyways, speaking of wasting my time. this thread has already spent enough of it so i wont reply anymore unless someone offers something constructive. this includes me ofc as ive explained my case in enough detail so i dont think i have any reason to post here further, apart from bumping the topic

Every single thing in the world, every invention, every innovation starts as an idea. If there weren't a way to OWN an idea (copyright, laws, etc) the world would fall apart.

In this particular case, it isn't an idea: it is a FEATURE of an idea, the idea being GGG"s Path of Exile which is OWNED. Or I guess I should say it is a qualified "idea"

Intellectual theft is a HUGE issue and has an entire field of dedicated laws in most societies.

That's a bad example, as basic things such as transistors or the litography process used in the chip production were either public domain or patents they bought for commercial use in accordance to the terms of the patent owner.

Oh, and many people share days, months and years of their hard work as open source under the MIT license or even "beerware" without being butthurt over somebody using/altering and even making some profit from their work; if the basic concept of making it public is unacceptable to you, you always have a choice of not sharing at all, as simple as that.

I'm already getting people messaging me about my hideout, I thought the command was disabled.

gross, do not want, please remove this feature why would you add this?

My hideout is personal now its being downloaded without my consent, it features content from almost all of my history in PoE including my supporter packs, this feature needs to be removed entirely or made an optional setting.

I thought this was going to be taken care of this patch, i have profile privacy settings, i can set wither or not people can literally come to my hideout, why can't i control this?

No it wouldn't. There would be no progress at all without the sharing and compounding of ideas and information.

Had ancient proto-humans thought like you, we wouldn't be having this conversation, because this technology wouldn't exist; almost none would. The handful of humans such a world could actually support would be hunting (but not with spears, without paying the spear tax to the spear inventor's descendants, were spears ever to even be invented in such a world) and foraging (but collecting into bare hands instead of buckets or pockets, because buckets or pockets would be cost prohibitive had they been invented at all) to pay the descendants of the fire-inventor for the "privilege" of simply warming themselves and cooking their food, and when they eventually would go extinct, they would deserve it.

The absurd concept of "intellectual property" is a relatively modern invention, having nothing whatsoever to do with actual property. Actual property is a tool for conflict resolution over use rights to scarce and limited resources which have inherent mutual exclusivity; ideas and information most certainly do not fit that description, at all.
