Casual player feedback on challenges 3.18
|
I reach map at day 3, and filling atlas nodes with all passives for harvest and essence. I was hoping to get those 2 challenges done as fast as i can.
I don't even bother with other mechanic challenges for now (breach, rogue, domination, metamorph, etc). I'm just focusing on this 2 damn HARVEST and ESSENCES part of challenge. Now I'm still missing those 2: Defeat a monster with 8 essences after hundreds of maps, i only find 1 monster with 7 essences. and after corrupt it, it not changed to 8 essences. ![]() Harvest at least 7 crops in sacred grove so far i find many grove with 5 crops. but most i can get is only 6 crops to activate. I wasted my times just for those 2 luck based challenge. As a player who enjoy doing challenges in past league, this one is not enjoyable. |

So guys they are clearly testing with these objectives to see if they can squeeze playtime out of players, just don't do the stupid ones and they will remove them in the future IMO.
I'd vastly prefer them to stop challenges being bought then make them non rng grindfests than vice versa but they want playtime and are experimenting IMO. I can't see the current platform being kept I've not talked to anyone yet whose happy with the new set and there are usually loads of 30+ already but i guess we'll see. |

Since 'player binding time' is such an issue (not for the players but for narrow-minded game developers), you can easily see that grinding the hell out of a game is conceptionally wanted. Path of Exile is one of the leading games into this. GGG focusses on YouTubers, not on gamers. And they focus on punishment, not on fun.
Ever reached level 98 and got one shotted three times? Yeah, the work of hours just DELETED. GGG calls this fun. I don't. I call this [Removed by Support]. The challenge catalogue is the worst thing i ever saw in a GAME(!), cause it's WORK. Work full of pain and punishment, totally lacking fun by design the more you are progressing your character. And i don't think a stubborn Chris Wilson will ever change this. It's us players who need to react: i didn't buy any supporter packs for the latest seasons. And i refuse to continue playing when the tide turns and the game is more work and pain than fun. Last edited by JC_GGG#0000 on May 29, 2022, 10:46:10 AM

" Pretty much this. I'm still trying to finish one of the challenges that require I use all 3 sentinel types of each variation they have, but I don't get enough power cores to craft them myself. A simple solution: Buy them. Boom, challenge complete. And then there's the conditional boss challenges. Go up and out of your way to fight them a specific way at no benefit to you. Just pure tedium. Also, good luck reliably having access to some of the bosses as you attempt these challenges. A simple solution: Buy a carry service and kill yourself early so you can't fail conditionals, buy boss keys. Challenges aren't challenges if the best solution is to buy your way to completing them. However, they're being designed in such a way that buying your way to reaching and beating them is becoming a necessity. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! " I don't know, if you read the initial posting...it's just a small fraction of the challenges that can be 'solved' with buying stuff. The vast majority of the list needs you to complete every enemy, even multiple times. This is so time consuming and so unrewarding...it's like counting grains of sand on a beach. Killing 100 4-mod rare monsters in tier 16 maps, defeat 100 uber bosses, reach delve 600 and so on. This isn't fun. [Removed by Support] Last edited by JC_GGG#0000 on May 29, 2022, 12:14:54 PM

i used to ignore the challenges and they fill up on their own. now they seem like work that i have to focus to achieve and im not about that. my time is filled up with constantly turning on my auras after every death to a blue archnemesucks mob so i cant be bothered with them and the rewards suck

League lasts 90 days and we're barely 2 weeks into it.
I'm low on challenge count cos I'm still on currency farming stage. I got to a point where I can comfortably level and map (11,5k ES, 90% evade, enough DPS to kill Minotaur in 60 secs), now i'm farming currency for expensive upgrades. Once my character is about 100 exalted in, i'll focus on challenges. Most of them is just atlas respecing or uber boss fights. Or just boss fights in general, interacting with certain boss mechanics. 24 for the first completed armorset is definitely doable. |

" this is the end of the 3rd week, not the second. at this point in other leagues, a lot of us with 6-9 would have ~18+, and would be considering the push to the next breakpoint, and maybe a new build to do it with. instead, we're looking at 3 weeks of play and being practically NOWHERE. im going to get to 12 fairly soon, and then im *DONE* looking at them. you can continue to nolife your 100 ex builds, but a lot of us are not interested. I seem to remember a lot of PRAISE for the archnem challenges, along the lines of "hey it looks like a lot of these are doable, thanks" (i got 32 last league). |

Yes, totally agree.
challenge is something that need works to do. For example like grind 250 maps, reach delve 600, all of that need lot of time and work to do. And for me it is enjoyable. put too many RNG things in challenge make it very bad. Like this Sentinel League challenge, there is lot of RNG stuffs on it. some people said that just buy it from other players. well, this make the challenge feel like not a challenge. If you make a build that cant do some harder content or specific uber boss challenge, i think buying is OK. but imagine doing half of challenge by buying it from other players. I dont want to play a game where the challenge is: "Go get some currencies, get rare loots, sell in the trade. then use that for buying challenges" when GGG announce this league challenge is harder, i am very exited. after reading the challenges notes, i feel like... "hmm lets try it then". but after actually playing the game and do the challenges, it is trash. |

" For me, this league's challenge list is a sign of a game director totally losing contact to reality. On top of that, the speed in decline of the steam charts user base is historically unseen. https://steamcharts.com/app/238960#6m |
