Change my mind: Sentinel is just torment league updated.

The Devil is always in the details.

Delirium is a dirt-simple mechanic, but was rewarding and fun.

Archnemesis was fine in theory, but no one I know had fun juggling the weird recipes and ultimately found it less rewarding than just skipping to get in more maps over time.

Sentinel will probably be fun / suck based on whether the normal sentinels (not one-time, hard to create sentinels) have a nice solid impact on gameplay and feel rewarding.

I said this in another post but GGG seems to currently have more staff in the marketing department than real game dev's. When was the last time GGG attemtpted to make their game more fun? Think about it. There is just no passion.

Have you played the game?
Your profile say you havent.
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

It all depends on the flow of play and how your choices/management affects the gameplay and rewards, and if it feels worth it. How much hassle will it be, and will it feel worth the hassle?

I refuse to pre-judge something before I've tried it. Me telling you "it looks boring/fun" or "it looks like too much micromanagement" have absolutely NO substance.

If the league is boring or a hassle, I'll let them know.

On a more general note: Leagues come, leagues go. Some are bad, some are good. What really matters to me, is the core state of the game. And the current state of the endgame is fantastic, and I would probably play no matter how the league mechanic turns out - because there's SO MUCH content out there, that you can tailor to your own liking through the atlas tree.

What the game lacks, is build/skill balance - not necessarily more content.

A couple of things here. First the bloated core game isnt "fantastic" imo. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but the numbers in the waning weeks of each league tell a different story. The playerbase that enjoys the core game, and will play regardless, is apparently, quite small.

Secondly and somewhat related, and which honestly surprised me, was the proclamation that they will be focusing on endgame every league from this point forward. I have been pushing for GGG to take a side in this casual vs elite player gulf they have created, but I'm surprised they have decided to focus on the 1%. Either the money coming in from the 40 challenge no lifers and steeamres is way larger than I thought, or GGG doesn't really mind scaling back in terms of their market space. Its interesting to say the least.

On the other hand, there's surprisingly little whining right before league start. The occasional all-knowing troll is safe to ignore.
I am failing to see the connection between this upcoming league and Torment. I suppose if you twist things enough, you can make anything seem like anything, but Torment didn't even cross my mind during the reveal.

When I saw the combining of sentinels to create new sentinels, I saw Talisman.

When I saw the placement and charged based sentinels that needed managed, I saw legacy stones.

Torment was a very bland league compared to the leagues released nowadays, to include the upcoming Sentinel from what I can tell. There were ghosts that you chased around and tried to get to hit as many packs as possible then seed it into the boss or a rare. That was the whole league mechanic. Nothing special.
Thanks for all the fish!

Sorta offtopic, but sometimes I wonder if people don't realize the "Change My Mind" meme is about mocking people who argue in bad faith. People looking for a fight, not looking to come to greater mutual understanding. It's not something you apply to yourself unironically.

I can see it being a replacement to Torment, for sure.

Many people dislike the Torment mechanic because it's so RNG. Will the ghost fly over a mob and then into a rare, or will it just sit in the corner and do nothing?

It's clear they are giving the players huge agency as of recently, so instead of just leaving the tagging of mobs from the ghosts up in the air, they are giving you the ability to tag them, same goes for the rare/boss, you are the one that turns up the difficulty and rewards, as opposed to a ghost randomly possessing them.

Every league mechanic under a lens can be viewed as parts of past mechanics, but with people disliking Torment, and them cutting old content, it seems like this could be their culling/update to Torment that people have been asking for.
Its torment league, but you have button to summon ghost instead it spawning randomly. This is a buff.
