Mac crash after two-gears map loading screen

It seems like this affects a particular town at a time, but not always the same one. Right now I can't load a character that is in Act 5 without it crashing, but I can load one into Act 1.

It makes me wonder if it has to do with a particular pet/graphical effect that another character has active in that town. This would explain why it seems to start working again after a random amount of time.

this was my hypothesis too after narrowing down the behavior.

Same behavior here, running on a Mac M1 Pro on Monterey.

I tried some stuff, the game crash only when I log into my Templar that is in Highgate, every other char load just fine (even in Highgate).

Don't have any idea of what the issue is but it is really frustrating!

It would be great to at least get some kind of official "we're looking into it" acknowledgement of this issue.

I understand we're a day away from league launch, and the mac client likely represents one of the smaller demographics, but this is game breaking.

I can confirm the same issue after the latest update.

After some playing time, portal to town will crash the game, after this, the game will crash repeatedly if attempting to play with the same char.

The fix I've found is to choose a different char and go to the same Act/town that is crashing, then try with the previous char.

I've tried making two separate posts for GGG, where I provided crash logs and recreated the issue and had no response. I referred to their "FAQ" for technical support, nothing. This league start is going to be a nightmare if this issue isn't fixed with the release patch.

As a weird workaround, I tried to log into another toon, then go back to character selection, and I can play my newly created toon fine for around 15-20 minutes before it crashes.

I think I'm going to be pretty tilted if after all the time spent in the queue for the game to crash.

Yikes. Seems like there's no love for Macs folks.

Same issue here. Error when trying to load characters in town. New character is possible to start on twilight.
