But why? It's labeled as beta and opt-in.
Providing support for three different Graphic APIs is awesome in my opinion, i don't know of any other game which does the same. Systems are different, hardware is different, so one API might be better for some and worse for others. Still great to have a choice.

The Mac client only runs Vulkan. If the situation doesn't improve after playing for awhile, there may be something else causing the problem.
We are looking into a couple of newly discovered performance related issues from this last patch, though.

Sounds like an issue with shaders being generated, I'd use Vulkan or DX11 renderer for now, just to be safe.

wanted to try out Dx12, switched to it, but getting stuck in loading animation when i start the game. Since i can't get to the menu to switch to dx11 or vulcan.

Anyone has a way for me to switch back without going through the start menu?

I'm having the same issue. I'm getting stuck in loading and can't get to the menu. Windows system and DirectX are the latest versions.

I got into the same phenomenon, but I solved it by deleting the configuration file (Documents \ My Games \ Path of Exile \ production_Config.ini).

Perhaps the rendering settings are listed somewhere in the config file, and I think it's possible to change them (though I couldn't find it myself ...).
Description of issue: DirectX12 does not work

Steps to repro if needed: Switch renderer in menu to DirectX12. Optionnaly, restart the game.

CPU: R5 5600H
GPU: RX Vega 6 (5000)
RAM: 16 GB
Storage Type: SSD
OS: Win11

Expected Results: Game loads and UI renders correctly.

Actual Results: UI is broken when switching renderer in game. After game restart, it does not load to title screen.

Notes: Weird, because it looks like GPU incompability or driver issue, but Vega 6 supports feature level 12_1, which is supposedly enough.

Description of issues: Issues with switching between Modes (Fullscreen, Windowed, Windowed Fullscreen).

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
GPU: Nvidia 3080
RAM: 16GB
Storage Type: NVME
OS: Windows 10

Expected Results: Switch seamlessly between different modes.

Actual Results: I can't switch between "Windowed Fullscreen" and "Fullscreen." Also, if I alt-tab while using "Fullscreen" my resolution is set to a custom resolution with the mode "Windowed." This setting becomes permanent until I switch to a different renderer to re-enable fullscreeen and then restart my client.

Notes: This bug is 100% reproducible on my end
Description of issue:
Cannot use DirectX 12 renderer at all.

Steps to reproduce:
Change to DirectX 12 render type in settings.

Spec (from DxDiag):
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor (16 CPUs), ~3.8GHz
Memory: 32768MB RAM
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19043)
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
DirectX DB Version: 1.0.8
DxDiag Version: 10.00.19041.0928 64bit Unicode
Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB (NTFS File System)

Expected Results:
Be able to play the game.

Actual Results:
Game goes black when selecting DirectX 12 renderer and never recovers. When booting up the game anew, it freezes during the spinning logo and the logo starts to shake. It never recovers. Tried all types of Fullscreen and Windowed modes, but does not help.

Notes:
I can recover by going into "Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\production_Config.ini" and change "renderer_type" to equal "Vulkan" again.
Description of issue:
Windowed Fullscreen is EXCLUSIVE Fullscreen (Fullscreen cannot be chosen, just reverts back to Windowed Fullscreen)

RTX 3080, Nvidia 512.15 drivers

The worst part is, the game worked flawlessly for a whole day with DX12 Windowed Fullscreen - shutdown game, watched some youtube, went to bed - now isn't working.



If I switch back to vulkan and go Fullscreen it works exactly as you would expect it, it's exclusive fullscreen. But then with Fullscreen enabled, if I then switch to DX12, the ingame option will SAY "Fullscreen" but changing to Windowed Fullscreen changes nothing :D

Textures for rusted hatchet, corroded blade, scale vest, iron greaves, iron gauntlets not loaded. There is only meshes visible. It is OK on DX11.
