New players hide their profile because of their impressive passive skill tree and excellent mix of equipments.
Long-time players reveal their profile, otherwise no one knows they have headhunters, mageblood, squire shield and mirrored equipments.

Quite a few new players on these forums have their profiles set to private.
A little bit sus I think.
I've been playing since closed beta, and mine is private because reasons, so so much for that logic.
Ah so you are a new player that has been playing since closed beta? So much for that logic. Also your reasons could be sus.
I can understand an experienced player going private. But a new player? I would think new players wouldn't even know to change the settings.
How can I have played since closed beta, and be a new player? How did you manage to miss the point so fantastically.

They are definitely public by default... :P
You should keep that account and build it since it has a solid origin story now.
Thanks for all the fish!

Dear all,
I'm a new player since a few days. I am an extremely casual gamer (only play aoe2) and got sick from a journey and needed something to pass the time. I played diablo 2 when i was a kid and wanted something similar that runs on linux. PoE is perfect, very complex world with a lot of story, love it. The only problem i have is the difficulty level, it's way too easy. It's just walking around and see everything around you die.
I fiddle alot with my gear but i don't have too. I have flasks but i don't use them. I lvl up so fast i think it's a hassle to upgrade my skill tree and wait till i have a lot of points.
The boss fights are done so fast i only reallize afterwards that i killed the boss. Dominus was down in seconds and never got a good look at him.
I'm only lvl 36 or so and now in act IV but the walking is getting boring. There is no incentive to get good gear or level up or focus while you play.
I have read on the forums all sorts of exotic maps and parts of the world that are "very hard" but i worry that by the time i get there i'm a very high lvl or stumbled upon some gear that makes it easy or even worse, got bored walking and quit.
The "endgame" should not be the only fun part, getting to the endgame should be fun in itself.
Are other players experiencing the same frustrations?
I would really love to enjoy this game, everything else looks very fun and cool. Is it really getting better soon?
Kind regards,
Sick new player.
You're doing the campaign right now which literally is the tutorial of PoE.
The campaign is there to introduce you to the world and teach you about basic mechanics and the crafting system.
It's intentionally made very easy to prevent people from quitting.
The campaign used to be much harder and newer players got curbstomped routinitely while playing which made alot of people quit.
GGG seem to instead have gone with the designchoice of making the campaign easier and scale up the difficulty once you're done with it.
As said, it's a tutorial. The real game starts when you finish the campaign and enter maps.
If you're a Diablo2 fan, the campaign is basically like finishing the 5 Acts on normal.

I am always surprised how bored must some people be, to create a troll account and then put in effort to type all of this BS.
Don't feed the trolls.

how can you say the game is too easy when you're level 36? thats babymode, they make it easy early on so new players dont quit.
And yet, many do x)

Play SSF of your really have balls play SSFHC. Sure it's easy when everything you want is at your finger tips. Thats Poes difficulty curve. Instead of monster hitting harder they make shit harder to find is all.

Thats only me speaking from personal experience on foruns and discussion boards, but my impression is that a whole lot of players quit because the atrocious performance of the game on lower end rigs
PoE for the visuals it has is just a processor and memory vampire and unless you have hardware that FAR surpasses the recommended settings is a VERY laggy and slow-loading game(i remember tons of players who quit D3 after the D Immortal blizzcon fiasco and gave PoE a shot complained about how the game had tons of slowdowns, death by lag, crashes and whatnot)
Back to the topic tho, just a little kid proud that he cleared the section of the game thats supposed to be easy. He obviously read somewhere that the game was hard and started bragging before realising he just cleared an extended tutorial. Lots of people like that
