Is POE 2 Going to be realesed roughly around Diablo 4?

Exactly.

My question is just curiosity why the dev cycle is as long as a new game since ... its not a new game.

Because they're not devoting 100% of their effort on getting it done. I doubt they're spending 25%.

Based on what? You literally pulled that out of your ass.

Hmmm I will do the same, for context...

Based on the last few leagues, little patching after the launches, and really not much communication I'd say that they are doing the bare minimum for the leagues right now and devoting key resources to PoE2. I'd guess more than 50% of development costs are going to PoE2.

Truth is we have no idea what the fuck they are actually doing, or focused on. Hell they have even said they are loathe to give out PoE2 info for fear of the reaction... ie "that's all you done this year?" "For a major project that's all you have to show us?" "Its been so long since Exilecon, and this is it?"

Shagsbeard's number might be wrong but I suspect its the truth, yes leagues are barebones and barely supported but they also are taking much longer than usual for sequel development considering it isn't even a new game its a large xpac.

I suspect most of it is development debt for trying to drag PoE 1 along for the ride, its an interesting approach though and I hope they pull it off to a satisfactory level.

And how do you square that then? That more than 75% of resources are going to PoE1 leagues, and that investment is represented by "barebones" "barely supported"?

That's certainly not complimentary of their development strategy or distribution of resources.

Part of me wishes they would just say that leagues will be getting less TLC as PoE2 ramps up. I think maybe the community would understand. However that implication may cause folks to just wait it out, and then you have a revenue stream issue, or an overall dissatisfied community with PoE1.

Either way, saying nothing, getting this type of lackluster league support, and absolutely zero transparency on PoE2 isnt exactly garnering a thumbs up from me.

China lockdown many cities to fight the covid epidemic, Outsourcing agencies for GGG will be affected again.
According to my sources PoE2 is due out right after release of 18.7. Right around the corner im being told.
Have a wonderful day.

GGG ALWAYS drop bombshells on big announcements.

Remember when everyone was expecting a 5th Act, and we got SIX and whole new end-game and multiple changes?! Everyone was like WWWTTTFFFF!!!

Remember just a couple months ago when everyone was expecting another league, and we got a whole new end-game rework, 2 new Pinnacle Bosses, a bloody ATLAS TREE!! Everyone was like WWWTTTFFFF!!!!!

And they do this on top of their development time working on POE 2.

When they actually announce POE 2, it will blow everyone's expectations... they always do it.

Can't answer that tbh and I've tried but I can't really add up barebones leagues and slow PoE 2 progress without them dealing with bottlenecks all over the show, they've got alot to juggle and I don't work there so don't know personally.

The last two leagues have gotten token support for probably 2 weeks then nothing after its fairly clear that priorities are elsewhere when it comes to ongoing league support at least.
Honestly don't see a reason on why it matters, Diablo 4 is aiming to be an open world MMOARPG and more similar to Lost Ark where as PoE 2 is still aiming to just be an aRPG that sticks to its roots so they're kind of 2 different things and in my opinion will each have different audiences.

I'm most likely not even going to have interests in Diablo 4, the way the game is looking it doesn't really feel like a Diablo game anymore but something else entirely. It's nice they're "returning to darkness" but is a game really going to be scary or horrifying when you're going to have random players all over the place... definitely not. You can opt to play it as a single player experience but then what's the point, you have to design your game around one or the other and I'm most certain it will be designed around the MMO open world experience especially since it has world bosses. It just doesn't feel like the Diablo franchise I knew and it hasn't since Diablo 2, Diablo 3 was fun for a playthrough but otherwise was a disappointment.
