NERF AR/EV + Spell Suppression

AR/EV Bases + Spell Suppression affixes + Determination is basically free god mode, I'm sick of building it on every character.

free god mode? everything you mention is a "cost". Also, you are sick of building defenses lol? Every character needs defenses

God mode to what content exactly?

perhaps rather than complain about building the same defenses over and over, make a build that DOESN'T use those. There are a ton out there...

To be fair almost every good low Budget build uses this right now.
There are other Options but they are all quite a bit more expensive to build or simply weaker overall. It is definitely reasonable to question the Balance of this. Last edited by Vepa#4873 on Mar 19, 2022, 1:59:22 AM

" Please. Endgame content all requires the same style of build. You beef up one ability as much as possible and add 12 layers of defense. Why even have 13 slots for skills? Most players refer to the back bar as an "aura bar" lol. It's boring as hell. Spam one ability while running around at super speed. I bought the Sawblade skill bundle thinking I could make a fun theme build around that. By yellow maps, I had to pick one of the 4 abilities, beef it up as much as possible and ditch the rest. What's the point of having hundreds of abilities with 13 active skill slots if most of it isn't viable to beat all of the game's content? Why even have skills at this point? They could give each class 1 attack ability and the game would play the same lol. Last edited by jaytea89#7731 on Mar 19, 2022, 6:58:01 AM

if your on SC its much easier to do content by ignoring defences than building a well rounded character, its one of their most frustrating design choices when i try to fit it in with their balance approach.
But yes good defences are the province of the OP skills as they have the points available to allocate to defence. |

defences are fine the way they are now
reasonable/good defences shouldnt be hard to get,but they should require investment caping spell suppression with only gear is very expensive there are only 4(5 with shield) slots that can roll the mod max rolles on boots, gloves, helmets are 20-22% body armor can roll 32-34% this means without a shield you cant cap it you need a high tier life roll as well and very likely resistances at a reasonale tier for boots its even worse because you need movementspeed as well this is extremly costly on top of that you want to run atleast 1 50% aura which is determination another harsh limit without investing ofc you can fix the not having the best rolls on gear with passivs on the tree, which again are costly and limiting in pathing as you get better gear you spec more and more out of the passiv this is good these defences arent out of reach every charr should be able reach this amount of surviability and currently they can this doesnt mean they cant adjust numbers a bit,but overall its better than it ever was *edit yes,its possible to reach supression cap with influenced items these items have to be craft most of the time and are basicly the "final" version of items you get again this gives the player a more reachable goal than in the past and this is a good thing Last edited by ciel289#7228 on Mar 19, 2022, 1:08:05 PM

Yeah, this seems more of a personable problem, rather than a problem on the game's side.
If you don't want to build hybrid Eva+Armour Spell suppression, you still are left with many other options, even for the mainly Dexterty based tree. - Evasion and Spell Dodge (Suprisingly effective) - Using flasks for mitigation - Using Steel Skin on a CWDT Setup if you don't have armour - Hybrid EVA + ES for massive health pool, even more busted with Ghost shroud, - Movement speed and phasing + Lower levels of evasion is actually quite potent, especially when I was playing rituals I was nigh immortal despite 8000 Evasion. Otherwise, you have - Massive life regeneration - Throwing other bodies at the enemy (Minions) - Massive ES - Fortify - Stacking Max Resistances - Stacking insane ammount of armour - Mana shield, - Blocking / Spell blocking JUST to name a few. - Leech shinenigans What do all of those have in common? Investment and decisions to be made. But I do sorta understand spell supression feeling so... desireable. Nobody can resist that sweet, sweet 50% "fortify" for spells :D But getting there, isn't as easy as it seems :3 |

Everything u listed there is either weaker or is not even comparable cause it is something u can and often times will get alongside AR/EV + Determination + Spell Supression.
Flasks, Leech, Movement Speed, Phasing, Life Regen, Fortify, Max Res, Minions, Block... these are all things u can have alongside anyway. Doesnt even matter what Bases u use for Armour. Steelskin. Yes u can use it but it is a lot weaker than molten shell with high armour. Eva/Spelldodge. Weaker or need more Investment cause you need to get Phys Mitigation elsewhere. Eva/ES. Same as Eva/Spelldodge. Also for Ghostshrouds you can just craft Max Life as ES on Chest and get the full value out of them with Armour/Evasion. No need for Eva/ES bases to do that. There is just no Reason to go with other Bases unless u plan to do something special with high investment for your defense like Transcendence Builds for Example. I dont say it is a bad thing that there is easy to get and good defense, but i think it should be brought in line with the other Options by either nerf AR/EV or even better imo buff the other bases. |
