Vent time; Why are blight (maps) mechanics still terrible.

This league came out over 2 years ago and yet is still plagued by two issues that cause BS scenarios and a complete waste of time.

RNG of tower spawns and towers that stop attacking because they are too far off-screen.

I'm curious how many people run into a blighted map that doesn't spawn a tower anywhere close to the pump or doesn't spawn enough towers. Causing you to run back and forth because for some reason its coded for towers to stop attacking when you walk a screen away and a bit from them. Yet monsters can still move freely.

My 2IQ solution is to have 1 or 2 towers spawn around the pump when activating it.

Blight-ravaged maps seem much better with the tower spawns... whereas blight maps are much more variable. I think this is because a good mapper can kill a blight map without towers but will need towers to beat a blight-ravaged map.

I think at least 1 node right next to the pump should be guaranteed in all blight maps - I like to build an empower players tower on the pump when I can to eat through anything that gets too close in this instance.

Blight used to be my favourite content, however this has recently become an issue almost exclusively with tier 14-16 Kirac blighted maps. The random assortment of mods as well as not being able to anoint to slow down monster packs is where most of the frustration comes in.

The last Kirac Blight map I failed did not spawn a single tower within 1 and a half screens of the pump. (Tier 15 Dry Sea map)

In blighted maps you put into the map device yourself, I have only failed one of these due to rolling a "monsters can't be slowed/stun" map mod without realizing. Most of the time these are fine, otherwise the slow down anoints provide plenty of time to kill everything that approaches.

I agree, I think a single tower would be enough to counteract most of the negative RNG regarding towers.

I personally am not having an issue with Blighted maps. I've farmed T13-16 blights (non-ravaged) almost exclusively this league so far, although I am moving into T16 only and have farmed over 200 ex so far.

I could literally farm mirrors and mirrors just in Blight alone, semi-afk constantly alt-tabbing to browse the web while the towers and minions do 90% of the work while I'm not even looking at the screen.

I'm about to spend the 200+ ex I've just farmed on some cool new builds with a headhunter and will basically start mapping for the first time this league. Then after that, I might be going for a Mageblood and/or 40/40 challenges.

I'm doing all this on a less than 7-10 ex skeleton mages character. Not really failing any maps. Probably a 2 ex skeleton mages build could do T16.

In fact, I just typed this post, while being semi-AFK doing a T16 Crimson Temple Blight that's probably going to net me around 70c in profit once I finish looting the chests.

I agree here. Getting bad RNG with tower spawns just takes every drop of fun out of the map. I struggle to see how this is so hard to fix.

Blighted maps are just badly designed

I like the blight mechanic but that's it. Tried a blight map once...... Never again

I read you're original post dude. You're basically complaining about having to run back and forth between towers because towers didn't spawn near the pump and for you that's an issue. I've run over 250 blighted maps, and I have never failed one map because of this issue. So to answer your question, like I said. For me, that's not a problem.

Yes, the towers stop attacking when you are more than 1 screen away, So yes, you have to stay within range and you may have to move a little bit from towers to towers and help them kill stuff, instead of staying fully afk right next to the bump. Like I said, for me, and for many other people I know, it is not an issue and blight maps are a massive cash cows.

I was going to post a YT video on showing you how to farm mirrors with blight, but you're answer was so passive aggressive, I'm probably just going to start a different thread to help other people, and just consider leaving your thread alone for now.

Except your original posts goal seemed to be exclusively how much currency you make. I'm in SSF, I do not care about currency, I care about functionality.

Perhaps I could of gone about it in a less passive aggressive. However, I was trying pointing out your original post offered very little to a problem that has nothing to do with builds OR making currency but the league mechanic itself.

There are clearly others who have voiced the same issue. Blight encounters are NOT inherently difficult. Blight encounters that do not spawn TOWERS within a screen and a half of the pump, is what this thread is trying to address. Not everyone plays a summoner build, not everyone plays a totem build.

You are completely free to disagree and voice a different opinion.
