Why is the atlas passive tree account wide

After reading some of the comments on this thread (some being redundant or incorrect, some being good points) I understand now why the atlas tree isn't account wide, and I understand the meta-changing domino effects it would have. It's not a simple decision.

However I and a lot of others still support making the change.
+1 to making it character-based
League wide or per character have different up and down side. Its not that simple and tbh you are swimming in unmaking orbs and regets after one or two weeks into the league.
Can this be considered at least for Ruthless please, where drops aren't overflowing like normal leagues - a separate atlas per char?

Thanks
Maybe make it 2 Atlas Passive trees to allow for two different play styles.
The access to the second tree could be gated behind some endgame content that allows you to unlock all those Atlas Passive Points again.

Should be harder than 5th Map Device slot though.
Maybe in form of extra challenges per map and invitation/boss.

Problem with that is that it could be extremely powerful to sustain one strategy with another one. And if it's gated behind late game content, the people that are able to abuse it are in a great advantage over those who aren't able yet.

Another idea would be something like cluster jewels for the Atlas Passive Tree.

But that would have to be balanced too.

It would be very nice to have the QOL feature of at least a second Atlas Passive Tree. But I think it's a complicated matter.

Maybe just a feature to create Atlas Passive Tree templates and switch between them for the cost of X Orb of Unmaking just that would already be a big improvement.
Atlas tree is based off of your progress on the atlas. That is league wide, not character wide, that's why you only have one tree.

Two templates that need the exact amount of Orb of Unmaking to switch from one another, sure. That's QoL. But since they haven't done it for actual passive tree, i don't see how they would want to make it for atlas tree.

As someone in another exact thread alredy commented, either the atlas progress is reset for all characters to each have their own atlas tree, or it's just lazy requests.

And my answer in that other thread is the same, stop being lazy, buy the orbs. It would be easily abused by making two exact characters and switching the gear around which would only waste you a few minutes instead of the hundreds of orbs, and ggg is 100% against lazy, abusable "QoL".
Ruthless should be [Removed by Support].
I assume the atlas tree is the way it is because of the way it is coded. Kind of like characters sharing stash space, and certain quest progress like labyrinth trial completion and whatnot. Changing it would require a decent rewrite.

In terms of balance no idea why each character can't have a different tree. Some people argue that it would break the game or whatever. I disagree. GGG can change anything. There must be a reason, they haven't stated exactly what it is.

I don't think GGG devs care about the economy too much, which is one of the reasons they could flip divine and exalts so willy nilly, and without warning. Also one of the reasons why there isn't an auction house, and that accounts without premium tabs can't list items on the trade website.

I don't see why players need to accumulate respec points at all, just let us change the tree at will. But that is my viewpoint. Hell, even just a button that unallocates every point would be so much better than what we have now.
a simple QoL that would meet us halfway would be a button to unmake the entire tree at once. Kind of like how we regret clusters.
I don't know how this discussion went so far.

The only fair way to it be character bond is if one has to unlock all the map tree long every time. This mean Map per Map, bosses, Maeven, Feard, etc... per char...

So if you ask, I dare to say most people DO NOT WANT that. I guess you gonna have live with that then.
Exiles, pffff!

i think its even worse, cause u could simply open the map on the other char then switch back to your main character to go in and play it. wouldnt even need to gear swap, you can character flip so quickly.

the advantage over not doing it would essentially mean you are a bad player if you arnt playing like this. and its now not quality of life, its the exactly opposite because ur doing this stupid character swapping farce 50 times a day. everyones friend list activity text in the bottom of the screen is just an endless fkery of 40 players switching toons every few mins.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
