why chance to Suppress Spell Damage ONLY for dex base? what exactly alter mod has for str base?

Well the defence equivalent is Max Res for str but that obviously isn't available except on shields.
As to why Suppress is on Evade gear in large numbers its probably because evade needed the most assistance especially after spell dodge got removed. Defences is one of the areas GGG has designed themselves into a corner on really, the differences in raw values and reductions between Eva/Armour/ES is so high that if it works for one it usually doesn't for the others. I genuinely think they'd have nerfed it this league if they thought it wouldn't be extremely unpopular but people are already starting at slight negative before they post patch notes. |

seeing as most people seem to think armour shits all over evasion right now, people are telling evasion characters to wear armour gear and/or run determination, and they have a point, i think its fair to say it would be absurd to put spell suppression on armour gear.
they get add phys reduction, big regen etc, things that are massive holes in an evasion characters setup even if they have maxed suppression. ggg could probably take suppression down to 40%, no doubt they didnt want to because of all the permaoutraged people who just want to cry about any nerf they can find. they should leave it a while before touching it. 40% would be fair i think, and then lower the map mod that reduces it from 20 to 12 perhaps. you dont want to touch it too much tho because evasion still has the biggest weakness out of all the 3 main defences, and probably always will. if youre evasion you HAVE to go outside of your stock defences to find good phys damage reduction in order to not be a walking death trap. by contrast with armour you can stack some max res + regen + block and bang, youve got a complete package of defence with phys reduction, ele reduction, attack avoidance, spell avoidance and recovery. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

There's also Iron Reflexes. You can use evasion gear with spell suppression AND have armour.
You won't get the additional passive points on the tree easily as a marauder, though. Bird lover of Wraeclast

GGG just dont like anything that touches armor and melee in general. They nerfed seismic cry to the ground yet theres EA doing 20k base ignite hit on a totem build.

Max Res stacking, higher life pools, and better defense vs attacks is what the left side and middle of the tree have going for it. Int builds can stack ES sky-high if they choose to. Evasion builds had Acrobatics before but were more vulnerable than any other archetype to one-shots and burst damage before suppression. There are a lot of moving pieces now that have shifted defensive options, from Guard skills being changed, "take reduced dmg from crits" being more easily attained, and other generic damage reduction options built into ascendancies. But as far as spell suppression goes, collaterally eva/arm is in an almost too-good spot rn since they can stack the best of everything with enough but less investment than it takes for other archetypes (but Corrosion exists now, so let's see where that goes).
