Converting regular tabs to quad tabs

Please please please can you make it so we can convert 4 regular tabs to a quad tab. I have a lot of tabs that I'd like to convert.

Or if that isnt possible you could credit me 20 quad tabs until you do.

yes, it's a bit unfair that players who supported his game very early are stuck with those inefficient small tabs forever.

ggg said, the rework of their stash system isn't worth it and implementing a conversion process would be too complicated but who says that they should offer it permanently?

a one time chance to opt in to convert those tabs would be enough for me :)

This absolutely should be an option.
Most veteran players are sitting with 10+ normal/premium stash tabs, from the pre specialised tabs era.

Personally I'm at +20 with basically no use other than taking space.

I would be willing to pay this upgrade option.

Conversion i think is not possible(ggg has stated this somewere iirc) however maybe they could just make 4 normal tabs remove only and give you a new quad tab, and by give i mean you could pay a small fee to upgrade.

They have said they dont have the technology and it isnt possible for a lot of things, then suddenly they make it possible.

I dont agree we should have to pay for it. In fact we should get a bonus of some sort for supporting so much so early. Like an extra premium quad of the bat, and then another one for every say 10 we convert.

I would pay for this too. If there were restrictions like, the tab has to be empty to upgrade, or you could pay to convert 4 empty premium tabs to a quad, I would love it.

I don't know shit about the internal implementation of course, but it shouldn't be that hard to merge data from 4 database tables into a new one, adjusting screen coordinates in the process, shoud be as simple as your remove-only solution. It's probably the user interface part that scares them most.

how ggg explained it 6 years ago, on the server the type of a stash tab isn't stored per tab but as offset from one side (like, the first 6 tabs are premium) to save database space.

they can't just change the type of a tab from premium to quad but have to decrease the premium offset and add to the quad offset. since the display of tabs on the client is customised by the user, this would remove 4 random premium tabs from your stash and add a empty quad tab.

to move items, they would have to create a database alter script which manually moves items over from the old to the new locations, which would run on login.

which is possible but how do you sell such a functionality on a permanent basis? ggg support isn't allowed to manipulate the item database in any way and the shop frontend just has access to add tabs. allowing the shop to run alter scripts that removes tabs is pretty risky.

and then comes the issue, that long time players bough quads (i bought around 20) anyway, so there has been alot of income for them already by not providing this functionality early.

but yes, now that most of the old players also bought enough quads, it's appropriate to also convert the rest of their tabs on demand, i think.

You would think so, but if it was easy the would have been selling the option from day one of quad tabs being launched, and if it was something that they could do fairly easily then it would have been done, because why lose the chance of basically free money for them.
