HALF of playerbase has quit in 1 WEEK

158k - peak online at league start
90k - 24h peak online today

~68k players has left already

so let me tell why this is happening:

1. unskippable campaign that nobody gives a s..t about and developers are still making it more obnoxious by increasing monsters hp and damage, this patch it was act 2, i mean i was not playing on meta skill and while doing act 2 i was shaking my had with question: has anyone even playtested this s..t?

2. character animations are ten years old. gender lock. how can developers buffing self-casting skills if character animations are complete garbage and needed to be reworked like 5 years ago? also there is no option to disable screeming of a character when he/she casts something, and this gets old very fast. disabling event voicelines and putting dialogue volume to 0 isn't working

3. heavy reliance on farming/trading for character development, horrible trading experience. unreliable crafting, currency scarcity. why would i "earn currency" in the game if I "earn currency" in Real Life already, and when i came home and want to escape this grim reality, you want me to "earn currency" in your f... videogame? ssf is not playable either because currency is too rare and crafting is too random, this mode should had completely different drop rates

4. 3.15 nerf to support gems was a disaster that still impacts the game. it made the game very difficult and it was a big hit to build diversity. players want to experiment with builds and make them to endgame without spending 300h per character. the game is directed towards no-lifers/streamers/rmtrs

5. again garbo league mechanic that needs micromanagement: picking up the parts, inventory, recipes, selection, srpeadshits... why the f... player can't just go near it like abyss and it automatically picks random recipes and the fight begins??? no, players need to stand there selecting, while some mobs are wrecking them meanwhile

there is a huge demand for a good ARPG and I don't know why developers are so proud about their peak numbers, it's just 1 day peak, sustain is terrible, and why is this an achivement anyway? what is 270k players if there is a demand for a good arpg among MILLIONS of players

developers need to reconsider their phylosophies because this game will be so dead when diablo 4 comes out

Imagine comparing weekend figures to weekday figures.

But enough of that drivel, please update us on how getting the refund on a pair of wings you've never owned went?

And Lost Ark lost over 200k players in barely two days. I guess Lost Ark must be even more terrible.

Or, you know, these figures aren't so easy to interpret as pontiffs like to pretend.

Oh yay, this discussion again!

I always look forward to the inevitable "One Week Into the League and the Number of Players Has Dropped ##%, Here's Why the Sky is Falling" thread.

It wouldn't be a real league without it.

if the game is good, why would you quit on day 6?

what do you have to say on the matter and about the arguments?
because if you don't have anything to say about that, you are a part of the problem
whiteknighting around surely is not helping

Mid-week numbers have little interpretable meaning - weekend numbers are much better for this, and well, the second weekend has yet to come.

And about the points, 1, 2, 3, and 5 have been with PoE for forever, and were never really a problem.

But yeah, point 4 is imo still a big deal and I personally think it's the reason the retention is so much worse since 3.15 than ever in history - it killed the buildmaking part of the game for a massive part of the playerbase, and the game is just a lesser version of itself as a result.

Yes everyone who played at the weekend but didn't play yesterday because they had a full day of work and other stuff to do in the evening has quit the league permanently.

I would say that I agree with some of your complaints, disagree with others, and believe that they aren't the cause of (or even related to) the normal and expected player drop one week into the league.

This same relative player drop happens practically every league, regardless of how good or bad the league's mechanics are or how well the league is received, or how many total players PoE has (which, by the way, have grown year-over-year for nearly a decade).

But really I'm just saying your post is déjà vu, in that every league somebody always tries to point to reduced player count just after a player peak to imply catastrophe.

And you know why? Because they have done everything they can do in the game. No point in playing anymore untill next league. At least half of those 43%. The other half are new players that got discouraged when they saw they can't do what the streamers can.

For better or worse this is what POE is. A pure race to do everything faster than anyone else.
Dude this is a case about every single game ever who release a new content or just release their game for example look at lost ark it had 1.2m views on twitch but on second day it had below 400k so by your logic 800k people left lost ark already like its a how its suppose to be people play something new for a while then move to somethin else
