Full Official Controller Support for PC

Hey guys, I know this topic has been discussed in the past, and some people mentioned Chris said they will be releasing the actual full controller support once Path of Exile 2 launch (hopefully).

We all love the classic intensive clicking, but honestly, GGG should really add official controller support to the PC version of the game at some point.

We have to keep in mind that features like this will definitely help many people with special needs (disabled gamers). People that might find the game currently inaccessible for them, but really want to get into this amazing action RPG title.

Not to mention that there are many other ARPGs games int he market that already have official controller support for them. For example, Grim Dawn is a superb indie title that has amazing controller support. Even PoE has a console version themselves, with fully remade UI.

Simply put, it'd be great for the community and also a nice addition to have in PoE quality of life arsenal!

This has been discussed multiple times. GGG will not focus on accessibility options as of now.
Creating new skins brings money to the house, accessibility options do not.
There was even an initiative that the players will pay for it to develop, it was ignored.
Bring in the Vaal whales, ignore the ravaged and crippled? Sounds like Oriath indeed - Kitava would be proud of this mentality.

That argument of yours is ignoring the fact that disabled players would also bring in money to the game as well, just as any other player does.

And what player paid initiative are we talking about? This should be included with the many supporter packs that we paid for throughout the years, right? Not some separate paid project.

I’m pretty sure I’m a whale and I really want proper controller support. Would be great to be able to play PoE on my treadmill.
the problem isnt that they cant add controller support..

they refuse to do it as long as they cant make it in a reasonable good way
they simply dont want to dumb down the input mouse+keyboard players use just to enable controller support and without this it wouldnt work

this is easily seeable when you check out the console version,it has a lot more limitations than the pc version

there is nothing worng with wanting controller support, but when it means the game has to be dumbed down to make it "fair" its wrong and very bad

ppl than want to play with controller can use the consol version, maybe thes should allow the consol version to be played with controller from a pc so you dont need the consol

I dont know what your talking about? there is basically no difference now between console and pc aside from a few skill that auto target etc.
Code has already been discovered in the pc client for controller support and the game is semi supported on steam deck. Its a matter of when not if, but still could be till poe 2.

this is exactly the point...

it would affect the balance of the game and not in a good way
new stuff would be created/balanced with the limitation of controllers in mind making overall a worse game for players that dont want to use a controller
Chris has already stated that at some point in the future pc poe will have controller support, they also said its not a priority to push it through at present.

Why would you think that it would be balanced with the controller in mind? There's absolutely no reason to do that. Spells getting auto aim would probably ONLY affect controller. It shouldn't have any effect on the rest of us. The majority of pc players would still probably be mouse & keyboard and i doubt ggg would balance the pc version based on a distinct minority of players. There is no dumbing down... The controller is simply an option. The controller having auto aim on some spells does not harm this "balance" you speak of.
I just can't see this point you're trying to make here.
According to this thread it almost made it into 3.17 so that makes me believe it should be here much, much sooner than the detractors in here think. I absolutely love this game, but I had to stop playing because it was killing my wrists. I check every single day hoping for an update that implements official controller support.

I want to get back into this game and I want to spend money in the shop. I'm definitely not a "whale", but to assume that they aren't focusing on implementing controller support because it won't generate revenue is just silly. I highly doubt I am the only one holding off on playing and willing to spend money until this happens.
