Favoured maps not working as intended?

Same issue here. Tried to favour Toxic Sewers (10 out of 12 favoured slots). And in 30 maps only 4 Toxic Sewers dropped, lot's of other random maps.
for me personally the difference between "this endgame system is the best thing theyve ever done" and "this endgame system is shit and i dont want to play this game" is this favourite map system working properly as advertised.

im so pissed off this doesnt work, it just ruins playing the new endgame, as long as this is fked the entire endgame system is fked because its all based on mapping.

It's because GGG knows you people love to farm that place for headhunter cards and thus have given special exceptions to maps like Burial Chambers to reduce your ability to sustain it.

Meanwhile my simple ass is just happy to get red maps at all, because I'm still living with the pre-Metamorph league mindset where sustaining them was damn near impossible. XD

- All Strongbox Passives (do Cartographers Strongboxes even exist? If yes are
they also available in non-unique?!)
- Cartography Scarabs + Ambush Scarabs + Div Scarabs
- Master Missions
- Chisel Alch Vaal (most of the time above 100% quant"

Everything screams for Map sustain in my eyes, but guess what. That's the fifth time I have to buy 30+ Tower Maps, because most of the time I just drop 1 or 2 in 10 maps.

Either I must be HORRIBLY unlucky (which I don't think because I've got 13 nurses and 9 raw exalt drops since few days), or there is a flaw in there.

Guess I have to see if there is a mechanic in Archnemesis where I drop insane amounts of Maps...

Yeah, I don't know. I've also set up Burials as my main and I actually can tell it's not very effective.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.
ive actually got mine to feel like it works atm, ive not done a map count to be sure. ive tracked maps and others have and i think its safe to say it doesnt work in most cases given the drops people are getting.

but ive just removed all voidstones and put a few maps on favourite at their natural level without voidstones and i dont have the numbers to back it up but on the feels of my mapping today i seemed to be getting TONS of those map bases.






so what i wanted was about 10 different maps that i would run all the time by putting 5 on my favourites at a time and when i had good stocks of them switch to the other 5 and try to keep a good stock pile of all 10 by managing the favourites reactively depending on how many of each i had on hand.

what ive now got is i can run t16 port and t14 strand, and thats all i can run cause all the other maps in the natural t14-t16 range are terrible and im not gonna run maps lower than t14.

so i wanted a 10 map rotation, ive got a 2 map rotation and one of them is a t14 (sigh), but at least im playing playable maps that i will actually load up the game to play and enjoy.




but its shite compared to the control that we were told we would have so fixing this bug, and it must be a bug surely, is rly important. this is peoples entire day to day endgame play thats being fucked up, you cant let that slide for any length of time if you want people to keep playing the game, its a serious issue.

I'm assuming this bug is being caused by the interaction of the favorite system with some of the map related Atlas passives. It would be very GGG to test the systems in isolation, declare them fully functional, and jam them together without checking again.

Each favorite of a map is supposed to add 10 more of that map to the pool of options when it rolls to see which map dropped, right? But how does this work for maps which don't just drop as pure RNG? Does it roll for "connected maps?" What happens if you hit "drops 1 tier higher?" Do they overwrite the first map it dropped as, which could have been a favorite? I don't know, and it's easy to believe that GGG didn't think to ask.

connected maps has always been a shitter tbh. why not drop an additional map prioritising ones you havent completed? so that it doesnt fuck with you once youve got a completed atlas and dont need the connecting map to help you fill out?





back when we had the elder orb and you could make a single map on ur atlas a t16 elder map that was fun, needlessly restricting you to 1 map when really you probably liked 10-20 maps and would have had way more fun having all of them at t16 so you could get a variety. but... they gave us 1, better than none.

because they wanted us to be able to play the map we wanted to play. ok cool.


and then they added drop adjacent map from boss...




fucking hell. i had a t3 map set to elder t16. so the connected maps were a t2 and a t4. when i killed the boss in my elder t16 it would drop one of those t2 or t4 maps constantly, because connected map. so i collected my maps over days, what i found is that if i added this t2/t4 and my elder maps together over 50% of my maps from this sample were these t2/4 maps coming from adjacent drops.

so if i didnt use my elder orb, and i was running a natural t15/16 map all those maps would have been the t16 guardian or the t15 map joined to the one i was running. so by running an elder t16 map i was basically losing over 50% of my high level map drops...

for fk sake ggg.

i just quit playing the game completely. my hope was that one day they would get their heads out of the arses and give us actual control of our map drops in a reasonable way so we could enjoy playing the map system the way we like to play it, as individuals with different goals and preferences.


thats why i was so happy when i saw them preview these mechanics, finally they actually listened and gave us a map system thats going to actually be fun to play with 12 fav map slots and control to make every map t16 if we want to.





nope. not atm anyway, not like this.
