I am way too dumb for this game.
Apologies all, but I cannot grasp all that is going on in this new patch. I just read a wall of text that made absolutely no sense to me.

tldr version of patchnotes
Mc is isekai'd to alternate reality Wraeclast where he/she becomes hero fightning against villains and saves the world (because reasons). + Two more big bad villains added to the game. + Nerfs + Nerfs disguised as buffs + Some buffs (maybe?) + Atlas nodes (and atlas related bonuses) got sliced into many tiny pieces. You can spend your points to get roughly the same results but now just like with your build you can make mistakes that will hinder your progress. This is a buff. edit. + You can have only t16 maps on your atlas. + Favourite map system (with high propability) allows to run only one map + You are no longer forced to start league with a decent clear and good enough damage to kill bosses. You can go full zoom zoom. Last edited by karoollll2534#2874 on Feb 2, 2022, 4:41:24 PM

If you're new, and depending on your style of playing games you're better off:
1. Searching for some POE guide videos. Pro tip: no matter what those guides say, if you're not having fun, it's pointless. 2. Play your own way and learn it like that. I've been here for about 10 years now, and I still skip half the patch notes; technical stuff bores me. Last edited by lupasvasile#5385 on Feb 2, 2022, 4:40:09 PM

" This is totally to be expected. Your profile tells me you've been playing for about 3 months and your highest level character is 21. That is not nearly enough to develop comprehensive game knowledge for PoE. You really should look at PoE as a huge ocean of information, and each piece of info is a new possibility for your character. Don't try to drink the whole ocean in one gulp. Play around in the shallows until you feel you are ready for more and don't worry about the huge deluge of info which patch notes are. Most of it is just details that won't be important until end game anyway. |

" Nah man you are not dumb! As others mentioned, find a guide you think looks fun, and just play the game and have fun, eventualy you will learn more and more, and at some point try experimenting with making your own builds, we all did that and alot of builds failed, in that process. but each time you get better! And never compare yourself to others, its your journey, and you are in for a treat with how much this game have to offer. |

Most people don't understand it all either. I truly wonder how GGG keeps track of it all when AAA developers can't even design a scoreboard today.
Just pick 1 thing you think looks fun to play and hard focus on that. you realize it's not as complicated as you think eventually, but when that eventually comes depends on the person |

Been here since 2017 and I guarantee I am dumber than you when it comes to some mechanics. The secret is that it gets absorbed as you read more guides and understand more mechanics. I really suggest listening to leveling guides/ziz’s videos as you play. Really helps soak it in.
Good luck exile! :) "Bonus points if it is Scion/Witch because they have nice knees. Ranger has ugly knees and other characters are men so playing them would be homoerotic." - CAKE, 10/20/21

There really is no reason to try and understand it all. Half of the stuff doesn't work the way it's supposed to and thus the endless waves of patch notes telling us what wasn't working as intended.
I make it a point to understand the overall big picture, but never worry about x skill doing x% when affected by x since a lot are bugged out at any given moment. I find some skills that are fun and feel good and then poke around with mechanics and see what is fun. |
