poe isnt a game; its a lab experiment
" Ironically, if that were the case, it'd mean they're terrible at it. Games that use gacha mechanics, or things like Candy Crush that feed you dopamine to keep you playing, have a better random-to-win ratio and better mechanics to keep people addicted. |

Who knew businesses, even gaming companies, try to make money? I learn something new every day.
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

" Of course. That's why you don't mention any. Stash tabs, mtx or trading don't make you win anything. They offer more options for collectors. |

yeah, ggg's willingness to do crazy stunts and look how players appreciate them can be interpreted like they do experiments.
thing is, it's a good thing. and it's ever been this way. it started with the skill tree which no other sane gaming corp would think about integrating ever cause there were no way in hell they could balance a game with that thing in place without hard damage caps (which nobody would play) ggg did it anyway and just resorted to balance shifts, ignoring the casuals complaining about "balance". offline

Oh no the conspiracy theorists have entered the gaming world ... I don't know what's up with some people always making up causes and reasons for things that make them feel victim or something? Grow up, the world doesn't evolve around you, it's just a game company.
