" Unless I read it wrong (and I might have, I'm at work) they're nerfing totems to offset the handcast spell buffs, to make them almost the same as before. But they nerfed totems this league didn't they? Lowered their health and survivability. I don't know how it works out in practice as I sat out this league entirely. I'm mostly interested in continuing my Divine Ire totem build (something SO satisfying in seeing them charge up then fire like massive cannons), but maybe ballista could be fun depending on how these buffs and nerfs work out. |

their totem health change was supposed to even out, it was basically reduce their life by 75% and give them 75% damage reduction.
People seem pretty dubious that is what actually happened though and personally I don't like the idea of them changing all totems just because forbidden rite was busted on them :p |

i was going to miss the new league anyway - no krangle stuff, so no easy six links on decent vaaled uniques. wanted to try a few skills with threshold jewels too, so one more reason.
heavy strike looks pretty nice in dps department, id just have to swap 2 supports for bossing and mapping. gonna use the legacy threshold jewels so with new skill, 2 jewels, enchant and 2 clusters i should hit 100% dd no problem. plan on doing some frostblades pathfinder with hiltless sword, so i need those 2 threshold jewels too.(tried poison hiltless, but doing your max dps after 12sec is kinda terribad even if its 10-12mil... esp in scourge) got one old char with freezing pulse and realm ender, so im gonna revisit that too and the one i have with ek and two cold iron points.(they both obv use the threshold jewels) |

It's good that they saw the problem at least. Threshold jewels are supposed to alter the skill to do something different, not straight improve it at the cost of 1-2 jewel slots. Something like buff the big meteor on firestorm but remove the small ones, so it isn't a duration skill anymore.
Unleash is a bit of a headscratcher for me since the introduction. The way it's designed suggests it's supposed to turn your skill into a nuke with a cooldown, so you have a main spam skill and a big one you cast ever 4-5s. But then they probably wanted to use it as a selfcast crutch too and it turned out as just a bit less spammy skill. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" Unleash was never meant to be a nuke per se, but rather an attempt at giving caster more mobility. Cast, move, cast instead of cast, cast, cast, move. It turned out to be a "less spammy skill" by design. You don't have to spam your skill as much, ergo you can move more.
