Prophecy, GGG, and Wasting Potential
For those who haven't seen it yet, GGG has announced they are removing Prophecy league.
This really reinforces what I said about my dislike with 3.16: " You're doing the same thing Bungie is doing with vaulting content, ignoring why the content isn't being used often and deciding it's easier to delete them than touch them up and keeping them relevant to get more players engaged with it. Why remove Prophecy? Why not improve it instead? We added so much new stuff since then that we could make prophecies for. Scarabs, contracts, fossils, prophecies that change interactions with these league activities. So much potential here is being squandered. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! they are probably out of new ideas so the plan is remove mechanics then re release later calling it new.
Lots of games do this nowdays specially mmorpgs. Although I rly wanted they to remove like 80% of the mechs (all the timed ones) adjusted and re released more polished. |

I agree.
But improving was never GGG's forte. Just remember how clumsily they reworked the Temple of Atzoatle...so much potential there as well...or look at the talismans. They acknowledged they were too weak, then buffed them only to right away say they are too strong now and nerf them again (heist league). Don't think we know what 2022 will bring. GGG has a pretty good idea as to what it will. I think that has a lot to do with why we don't understand their choices.

" I highly doubt that we will see a prophecy 2.0, because their design philosophy of leagues has evolved since Prophecy league... And yes, we don't have the vision of GGG because : - Either their vision is so blurry that we would not understand it - Or, they are affraid to share their vision and don't communicate on it because if plans change, they would face an angy mob... In both cases, players are left in the dark and can't really provide adequate feedback. I have prepared my last league feedback for 3.16 before permanently moving in SSF Standard, and i'm sure it will be ignored by GGG and badly received by a portion of the community because my ideas are not 100% turned on Trade leagues and hardcore gamers... eh...I would very much rather GGG remove the unused, unpopular old league mechanics completely, then try to "force" them to work in the current game state. GGG is bloated up like a drowned carcass and its time to simply just trim the fat. We can work on changing the fat to muscle later, but it needs to start with losing dead weight first.
Prophecies have nothing going for them: nothing. Fated uniques? 99% are useless. Pale court? dumb and useless content. The odd super prophecy? unnecessary. Lance it, its just a benign tumor at this point. Same deal with the removal of perandus. |

There is a need of complete rebalance of the game where non meta builds can go to last bits of endgame, thus enabling those players to farm for more advanced builds that will take them to aspirational content... The problem is that GGG does not want players to finish the game, they just want the money of endless renewal of casual gaming player base without understanding that most of those players won't spend a dime in the first place because the game is not new player friendly... Path of Exile is a Casino for gambling addicts.

If they would have liked Prophecy / insert league name that sucks, to not be garbage, they could have reworked it to be better at giving something meaningfull to players. But in doing so, they would have to rebalance everything content wise, while taking into account the "2.0" version of Prophecy. GGG puts on the choping block whatever they don't see what to do with... It was the same with Harvest... They are affraid to give players the means to play / finish the game because they are affraid that they will leave... Removing content will also make players leave because they will think that their time spent in the game has no value... Path of Exile is a Casino for gambling addicts.
