If he's going down that rabbit hole, also using master crafts is not real SSF. Nor a hideout since they are technically vendor supplied. Remeber act 3 map device?

...he shouldnt even do quest lines since passives are also given by NPCs

I play by SSF rules GGG given. No way I'm adding restrictions to already game doesnt let you pin point farm about 75% of uniques and crafting is not happening until maps where maps and Jun hides best recipes. Sometimes I say to self do I want to do this slog all over again and end up quitting league. I'd quit in acts without gems. I don't like trade because people bug me more than SSF has nothing to do with making it harder.

I'm not trying to prove anything. I'm just a guy surrounded by people all day and want solitude when I go in my man cave. No trade. No kids. No women and I put my phone on DND.

Hey i can totally relate, im a 37y old dad and all i wanna do is chill and play.
The problem is that im out of the loop with poe, nowadays i dont know half the uniques or interactions, id have to do so much theoretical learnig again and sit in front of POB and the wiki and id rather not play than doing that.

My way of playing sounds frustrating but in my case its the opposite, the whole planning aspect is gone and i barely require the wiki or POEDB, the game is making my build, builds that i didnt consider making myself.
The curiosity, the uncertainty, the creativity, all present without work.

My weird challenge rules usually play along a game's core strenghts, in poe's case the amazing itemisation, hitting the same 2-5 keys at the right time certainly doesnt keep me playing.

Knowing that im too casual to ever reach endgame i tune things down, its like a detox, a non achiever playstyle and to my suprise its working.. it all was just an experiment at first.

If i had time i could be spending hours farming currency to buy a headhunter but it wouldnt feel better than finding a bitterdream and corrupting it well, what was once never tried vendor trash, now is my treasure.

On a sidenote, bitterdream is actually way better than i had ever expected, this 9-link still outperforms what i can put together on a 5-link at level 80.

Not knowing everything is great, im finding items i didnt know existed, i guess we get spoiled as we play.
I find the "no using spell gems" rule to be a bit odd, it would make it impossible to plan any builds.

I play SSF (including not using things your other characters dropped) up to maps, just so the campaign actually takes some decisions.

Beyond that, I find the most interesting challenge is beating endgame content as casual. It is possible, if you accept the meta, and obviously you trade for gear, buy your maps, etc.

Well smaller number of items at player's disposal with no guaranteed items means far greater variety of pre-endgame levelling and more opportunities to utilize your vast knowledge of the game, which makes the game way more interesting, so makes sense to me.

As for me the main point of SSF is to shift player attention from farming currency, so as long as there's no inter-players trade it's okay for me, any ruleset will do.

I remember I spent half of the league buying prophecies and selling fated items, gave tons of money and allowed me easily do 36 challenges, but it was boring like hell, such things kill all the fun.

Isn't this approach the whole gimmick behind "hard mode"? Rolling a witch, having a driftwood mace and no gem to socket, and upgrading to a rusted spike because it deals 1 more phys per swing? No vendors, no rewards?

Sounds fun I guess

It can be.
I didn't go for one this league because I had a different build idea, but it's a bit like farming for Oni. Every drop can be better, even a bit. Of course it will slow you down. But I can relate to that "hard SSF".

Have fun, i2ebel.

Hey i never said no spells, or does anyone else do that?

Something just came to mind, i was probably highly influenced by ZiggyD's challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImWCEoBxGAM&list=PL4aZrsY9M5qAiyz9rt_t0LD93hVEx56PA

Im not masochistic enough for that, or the announced "hard mode", i dont enjoy the combat enough to play 1h to find a transmute.
