yeah, last patch broke things with steam logins but in general, there will be a day when valve closes it's doors.

like with money savings, it's never a good idea to invest all your money into a single company. especially since you don't own those games but license them from valve.

irrelevant, all games are eventually going to become stream-only, subscription-only titles. Physical ownership is going out the window in the next 10 years easy, digital ownership will be almost immediately removed. We'll start seeing Game Pass exclusive titles soon enough, and we have no one to blame but ourselves for paying for it all

yeap. People that only praise, don't criticize, accept anything and even pay for it will lead us to this future where u own nothing. And lets not start talking about nfts, cryptos or the self proclaimed "play to earn" model that lots of people are joining like happy sheeps to feed the pyramid.

From what I remember steam account and client accoutn are not the same. Wiping steam would mean they would wipe EVERYTHING from you (unless they have a way to transfer steam account into normal one)

Can't confirm this.
I played on steam for a while when I had problems with the standalone client and wine - it's the same account.

yeah, for copy protection and anti cheating it's essential to incapacitate the consumer.

good question of whether it's the consumers' fault. valve monopolised the online game distribution market and still feeds on 30% of the support that should go to small gaming studios instead of valve's share owners.

even ggg couldn't resist but they now get permanently haunted by posts with steam charts showing the extremely volatile subgroup of players just switching to one of their other games.
