It's really not, you may die a few times until you start paying attention to the monsters and not just go flailing into all the big packs hoping for the best.
Ancestral Bond. It's a thing that does stuff. -Vipermagi

He who controls the pants controls the galaxy. - Rick & Morty S3E1
Death is actually pretty cheap, especially in Act 1. What I'd like to see though is things like more portal scroll drops (so dying to bosses wouldn't be a problem) and Brutus to be shoved back in his own room.
I haven't died in A1 for a while, but i believe
1. you get respawned at the arena entrance and all bosses in A1 are situated in an arena
2. you get respawned with full flasks so you can take down anything with just couple of deaths without actually losing anything (no XP death penalty in A1
3. if your skill of choice is shit, that might actually motivate player to try different skills - here might be a problem, once the price of skill gem gets to Transmutes from Wisdom scrolls. I always struggle with Transmutes and Alterations at the beginning. The cumulative drops seems to extend the problem rather than fix it

I think it greatly differs on the skill a player chooses, the skill of the player itself and the way a player normally play other games. e.g. some players are ok with dying, others are not.

First of all there is no right and wrong, people who are pro this making harder of acts just need to learn/accept that's it's not everyone's cup of tea to play games like a job, and visa versa . Also this game is not about the acts, but about the endgame.

Also people who just make one character and keep playing it probably will have lesser problems with this stupid hardening of acts then people who did enjoy making multiple characters.

I loved leveling when it was easy, but the harder it get's the more... boring.... well I just don't level anymore, and for players like me that's a bad thing.

Also choosing the right skill has soooo much impact on leveling, as clearly 99% of the skills are complete bad level skills. Also finding a good item right at the start is the difference between a fast and smooth experience and a bad level experience.

I am completely against making acts harder, acts are one of the most boring things after doing them for the 1000th time.

Surely the difficulty of current difficulty Act one on subsequent characters with Tabula, etc is much easier than former difficulty Act One on original toon. Doesn’t twinking your new characters out off the back of the currency made by your first character completely trivialize the leveling process regardless of how overturned it is?

it used to be, but with all the bad changes from past patches, it became a chore, everything goes slower, movement nerves, skill usage (mana issues), dps nerves etc, leveling is not fun anymore.

That’s too bad. I have only ever leveled one character per league thus far, so naturally I enjoy the leveling process for what it is.

The massive difference in power for skills early on is probably the key problem.

You can get 2 link Caustic Arrow, Siege Balista and 2 iron Rings and you will get easily through Brutus and Maven, alongside with all the other content with just white bow.

If you get a skill like LIghtning Tendrils ... on boy, what a mistake :D

PoE is by design a game full of dead ends. Skill Choice is one of the major ones.

Pretty much this. The class and/or skill you start with pretty much determines whether or not your Act 1 experience is going to be good or bad.

To me this is a problem, one that for the most part didn't exist until GGG made Act 1 more difficult.

And the Brutus change is terrible. There are no Adds for flask charges. And at this point in the game most classes/builds don't have the DPS and/or life/mana sustain to kill him fast enough to not run out of flasks and be at deaths door running in circles for what can seem like an eternity, all the while thinking WTF.

Sure, if you are running minions, stormblast mine, rolling magma, or a few other select skills, Brutus goes down pretty quick. But if you are not playing these, the fight is going to suck and take forever.
