Strike melee leveling is [Removed by Support]
Melee has always been 100x time inferior to everything else. There was a times/leagues where melee was okish, but they quickly decide to nerf it to the ground, even if it wasn't OP or anything close to it.
Strike Skills has always been 100x time inferior and this league they decide to nerf it even more, which is not just ridiculous, but show you how little they know about their game, or they just hate on melee for some reason. If you are a melee lover like me and don't want to be told what to play, and want to play whatever you wanna play, this game is just not for you. |

im pretty sure that some people here (including GGG) dont realise how close to reality this clip is for many, many new players (if they endure long enough to get to this point btw)
leveling as an attack build that does not scale from gem levels but from weapons is already terrible in comparison to lets say Explosive Trap or the likes crafting 2 +1 fire wands is possible from the get go, you can even buy them from vendor if you are (very) lucky. this assures you have a smooooth damage curve trough the acts anc can actually focus on getting defences and utility from the tree keeping your weapon(s) up to date on the other hand is pretty tough. vendor recipe requires rare rustic sash(es) of Granite flasks - neither of these is common if you actually start counting. essences might help but again - you might be unlucky and get life ones 3 times in a row and even if you craft - you get a magic weapon with one good roll. you most likely have no Regals, no craft bench so you are stuck with a 'baguette' of sorts ofc - this league players are able to get good corruptions on weapons that MIGHT help assuming you are lucky to get one that actually works instead of bricking your build completely. all these methods are RNG based and if you are unlucky you end up in the very situation presented in the clip and that applies to ANY attack skill. Strike Skills* have yet another layer of 'terrible' on top of that - strike skills are just f.. terrible to play * - 'strike skill' does not include: Lightning Strike, Frost Blades, Flicker Strike, Smite. anyone disagreeing with the entire point is a) most likely playing FOTM build anyway and b) never actually played strike skill in their life 3.16 gutting of Strike Skills was outrageously weird in the very worst kind of way |

But i've never had to do that before, you could just do it. I've played melee for countless hours but THIS is what i've never experienced before. Just for the sake of experiment i've continued with molten strike to half of act 6 and i've counted over 100 deaths. A HOUNDRED DEATHS WHILE LEVELING WITH UNIQUES. HOLY FKNG SHIT! " Saw the apples to apples difference last league when I was levelling a zeal inquisitor. Tectonic was fully converted to fire, I had the same fire/elemental scaling for both attacks and spells and it was ridiculous how much more effective firestorm was compared to tectonic, even without two +1 wands that I obviously can't use in that setup. I tried using molten but noped out pretty soon, that build had zero room for such extravagance. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I really dont understand why GGG never did something to drastically improve life based melee in all those years. Strike Skills are the bottom of the bottom.
Mines/Traps/Spells/Minions crush the game with just gem levels and even on mirror tier level weapon based combat is just inferior in this game by Design. GGG can we expect any changes in regards to relative power level of melee from mid to end tier gear or will this game always be in favor of non melee combat? By the way my Molten Strike build lost 5 skill points this patch because i had to travel and spec the new mastery as my Leap Slam movement skill would provide me no Fortify. Turned out if you dont deal enough damage in end game content even with the Main Skill you dont pass the Ailment Threshold and dont get Fortification stacks. Its a very malicious implementation. Melee got one slap in the face after another in the history of PoE while spell casters continously are in superior game dev support with interesting mechanics and keystones that just make more sense if you scale damage via gem levels instead of a weapon. couple of leagues back I levelled a glacial hammer slayer, picked up all the strike range passives and used instant cast ancestral call. wasn't the best, but was fine. didn't like mapping much though.
