Game is fun, mechanic is good, endgame is best. Only fun barrier between endgame is campaign.
Please stop making it harder, or extending maps. People play this for deep and detailed endgame with various activities not for "oh no silk fucked a spider and he will marry to her, go bring me 8 fireflies hurry". Yet GGG is extending map overlay, putting minibosses to every act map, making bosses more rippy. Just why? Am I the only one thinks this way?

It's to [Removed by Support] encourage player retention by prolonging the time they spend rerolling HC chars before mapping. By slowing down the speedrunners, forcing them to stop and interact with flicker minibosses instead of dashing towards the waypoint to unlock it.
In behavioural psychology this model is called "vaaled Skinner box" where the subject's life is made arbitrarily harder to sustain the belief that the activity is now more worthwhile than before, when that belief is patently false. It only works if you've conditioned the subject to believe that difficulty predicts reward level. The value of Acts has not changed in fact Acts is even less relevant to long-term success than before, with pervasive cleansing of div card and map/map accessory drops from Acts areas drop tables. We pretty much have confirmation from PoE 2 that the campaign is never going to go away. Yet it seems that isn't enough for some people, who nevertheless feel a compulsive need to keep expecting it will despite all evidence to the contrary.
Ah well. Just another retread of old ground, like loads of posts before it. Here we go again I guess. Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Oct 23, 2021, 1:44:03 PM

" I think that GGG believes that this forced, prolonged retention through the campaign will increase MTX sales. However, I think that people having fun makes them buy MTX. Rippy, bullet sponge bosses are not fun. My buddy who introduced POE to me last year tried this league start. He noped out of the first act. I can't imagine what new players are going through now. I mean guys, I always convince my friends to play endgame but they always leave at campaign because they cant handle this much spongy bosses and chore quests. This just increases retention.

" This is such a weird thing to hear about a game where people regularly put up vid of bosses being deleted in seconds, complete with stopwatches on screen. I wonder how many PoE players even realize how unusual this game is for that... Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Oct 23, 2021, 2:10:20 PM

None of them seem particularly bullet spongy to me, but I guess YMMV...

I have yet to understand how running an area in the campaign is significantly different than running a map in the endgame.
