Scourge mechanic not worth the effort?
Normaly POE is all about high risk - high reward.
Scourge is very high risk - No reward atm. Its very rippy (sometimes even die before I can do something) but gives near to 0 rewards back. Yes you can skill up the scourge tree and maybe it gives you something back in the very endgame, where you min/max the hell out of you BIS gear, but till than it gives nothing back, only tons of virtual deaths and frustration. Its practicaly a way more deadlier Delirium encounter but wihout valuable rewards after every encounter that helps you to push your endgame build. Maybe I miss something and the league mechanic starts to shine at some point outside of BIS corrupting but atm it feels not rewarding at all. Sadly you have to do the mechanic because you have to level the skill tree this way and lose lots of time to farm for actual endgame stuff. I don't know how to fix the mechanic tbh to be more rewarding but it would be realy nice if GGG can do something here that it feels less underwhelming. Ty. Last bumped on Oct 30, 2021, 4:37:20 PM

I'm honestly finding the most valuable part of the league mechanic to have nothing to do with corrupting gear. The item quant you get just by having your Scourge debuff stacks is HUGE, and you can activate most other league mechanics while in Nightmare mode to take advantage of this (with the caveat of, you'll now have to contend with multiple deadly leagues simultaneously).
So there is substantial reward to be had, for builds which can handle the risk. But you kind of said it yourself: " Nightmare Mode works as a multiplier to whatever drops you would normally be getting. If you're just dying right away, or if you aren't clearing significant amounts of enemies... I mean, you're just multiplying zero, right? Gotta clear the content to get the loot, this isn't a handout league like Blight XD |

The rewards from scourge are mostly gear and getting gear sucks in PoE it's part of the core game design. Pretty much any league where you can't choose to get currency as a reward has bad rewards.

a. very very rippy + it is designed in that way. - if you start the encounter in the open, you get swarmed from all sites - if you stand strategicly in a corner, a big red expanding ball appears and explodes, killing you. This is exactly the same kind of mechanic as in delve, where some blue ball-like creatures appear and explode. b. no currency gaining mechanic at all, very tedious in SFF c. The damage is way too high. Worse than any other league. Even pre nerf anarchy.I remember Chris saying Delirium was too clustered with rares and now this is the same but worse. It wouldn't be so bad if it could produce something besides garbage gear.

No, it's not.
Scourge makes it into my top three on my list for my least favorite leagues. Throw in all the crashes and I'm out. The nerfs will continue until morale improves.

I'll list 3, and its only day 2 so more clever uses of scourge will be found out eventually -
1. Scourge maps could be insanely profitable. They always get the "rare monsters drop X additional items" (X is tier of scourge map 1-5) mod and this could be anything from basic currency, maps, stacks of splinters, fossils, scarabs, etc. I ran one low tier map with t1 scourge that had every rare monster drop ~7-10 simulacrum splinters (ended up with ~80 splinters from that one t1 map) 2. Tainted currencies look really cool and would be a great way to 6 socket/6 link items 3. Implicits can be extremely op - but this will be a min-max thing that people won't start doing on day 2 of the league. Especially getting good implicits on uniques would make some insane gear |

" It's funny because I ran a bunch of T1 to T6 Scourge 1 to 3 maps and it was just absolute garbage, same as a random yellow map. Looting like 3 fossils in total or 1 splinter per rare monster. |

i think theres 3 things...
1. its too rippy 2. it takes too long to get the rewards 3. the rewards almost all suck now you can have 1 of those, you need at least one of those or its op right? but all 3 kill it. one of those has to go imo, because as it is now its just not compelling. i play with a friend and she basically dies every single map at least once in the scourge, were playing white t1 maps, its pretty retarded tbh. this came out a few maps ago. i had to grind a ton of maps to do that? what are those implicit? what a total joke XD actual garbage tier league rewards. im not someone who thinks u need big rewards, im almost always of the opinion the rewards are too much. but this is the most rippy league they have ever made and instead of getting good rewards every single map, maybe many times per map, i have to wait multiple maps to get that ^^^ ? plz. come off it. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
