HELLO GGG ! I AM BACK ! I have one question !

First off they have been discussing live service after the launch. Clearly they have some work to do beforehand, but indications are that something is in the pipeline.

Second, if you have read and researched the reasons for the server instability, which I have, you can at the very minimum have some empathy for them. In the Blizzard post they indicated over a stable 400k+ player concurrency, which combined with this "modern player" activity, really stressed out the servers. They literally had millions of games being created, that many times only were up for a few minutes before the cycle began again.

THINK ABOUT THESE NUMBERS. They are massive. Especially for a remaster.

Let's revisit this in one year and see how well this statement stands the test of time.
Thanks for all the fish!

I mean it's been 20 years. I think the Diablo franchise will be ok.

Hopefully this forum will still exist in a years time to review.

I have a feeling your predictions in this thread including this one won't age well.

EDIT: I mean the forum in a year part. Of course D2 will be around in a year, and much longer. It lasted 2 decades. It will go longer. D2R might not be so resilient because you can't mod it, but we'll see.
Thanks for all the fish!

I said I hope it's still here. You don't?

Sure. We can pretend there wasn't subtext in that statement.

Hahaha. Fun read. Blaming the player is indeed modern. Back in 2001 there were less resources and now players can learn a min maxed play style easily.

Yea. And in 2021 the servers and clients are soooo much more powerful, this would negate it more than 10 times over.

Blizzard and their dumb shit. Phè. Pfffft.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

Oh I'm sure Diablo will be fine. But we're discussing D2R here, not all the other Diablo games. Doesn't mean much if they all just go back to playing classic D2 again. Cos THAT'S what's lasted 20 years, at least for some people. And due in no small part to those people i.e. modders btw, not Blizzard.

Also, as the other guy pointed out, it's rather amusing to see you leap to Blizzards' defense whenever things go bad for them, while practically every issue real or imagined that PoE has is a grave problem in your eyes. Still, at least you're consistent about it. :p

Ok sure let's talk about D2R. I'm sure it will be fine 1 year from now, especially if there are ladder seasons and some sort of content.

As far Blizzard vs GGG. I will criticize or praise depending on what the situation dictates. I think that's the reasonable way to approach it.

I've supported GGG with thousands of dollars, I havent done that with Blizzard. I'm critical of PoE's development direction, and much prefer the more accessibility driven systems Diablo has. I don't like what some of the leadership has done personally at Blizz, but I dont fault all the other super talented people over there. I think GGG also has great people, that sometimes get overshadowed by "Chris's Vision"

Oh, and for 3.16 league launch. I think folks should be prepared for anything. Even during the recent Ziz,Mathil,Quin, Steelmage live stream they expressed concern about potentially loaded servers and the performance strain / fps drop of clicking a button and the whole world changes. This might turn out to be a very bumpy launch tech wise.

What ever happened to all the talk and hype surrounding D2 reforged, anyway? Crickets suddenly…

You could ask the same question of LE, Wolcen, Grim Dawn, etc. They all killed POE in the past. But this is Wraeclast though, so nothing stays dead very long.
uhm since when did something killed PoE? :') think i missed something here. some of which u named were decent for when u played too much PoE at best
3.26 when?
Don't abandon us. don't turn your backs on the ones loving poe.

Ouch fellow exiles. Hope your queue times are short, and your DC's are far in-between.

Welcome to league launch!
