Gladiator block is untouched
Old max block/spell block with the Anvil and Violent Retaliation
= 75% + 3% + 4% = 82% New max block with keystone, the Anvil and Violent Retaliation plus the new "lucky" block = 1-[(1-(75% - 25% + 3% + 4%))*(1-(75% - 25% + 3% + 4%))]= 81.51% => So we lose 0.5% block at the top end For a normal 75% block character, there is literally no difference. A lucky 50% is the same as 75% mathematically. Last bumped on Oct 15, 2021, 3:14:22 AM

I thought so too, but the preview mentions specifically lucky attack block, so Glad loses his easy spell block. And you still need to spend extra points in new VC.
So Glad will most likely lose the identity as spell block character. But it might gain a new one. Abandoning the spell block and layering the lucky block and evasion can result in huge total chance not to take damage from attacks, and with new spell suppression and more max resist passives near Glad's starting area, you can cover spell damage quite well even without spell block. I did the math, if you could cap both evasion and block with lucky modifier, you end up with 99,838% total chance not to take damage from attack. 99,7795% without The Anvil. Yeah people are overreacting on gladiator, it is still fine. The other ascendancies(near new node) get easier access to spell block but gladiator loses only a little spell block BUT he can probably take some of those new +max res and because he gets more +block chance on items can he free some passive skill points from +block chance nodes to spend on max res.

It kinda is, lucky mod works only for attacks, so you have 75/50 instead. It will be offset by easier access to block and spell supression. The problem is "overcapped". The momment you increase your attack block cap over 75 you will lose 2% spell block for each point. Thats the stupid part.

It's hard to say on the spell block portion of Gladiator. With the information we have, Spell Block does take a hit but they also mentioned there would be new ways to get spell block if I recall. Tempest Shield apparently will have the Spell Block buffed as well.
The free max spell block might be dead unless someone goes 40% over max block w/ a Gladiator which is not realistic. Until they show the ways to get spell block and the new nodes that the Gladiator gets instead, it's too hard to say for certain. I still think Gladiator is very tanky no matter how this ends up based upon the available data. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Oct 11, 2021, 9:15:33 AM

It may end up that you wont take versitile combatant at all and go for lucky block + natural spell block. This would skyrocket the attack block to like 90+% (to lazy to do calculations sorry).

" You are right! Glady could be even stronger this league than before. I'm thinking low life Daresso's Courage combined with other sources. Imagine having 75% block and spell block AND block being lucky! (PS: lucky 75% block equals 93.75% block) |

" I have a feeling this won't see the light of day, but yeah that would be pretty powerful if it stays in the game. If it does, Gladiators would be more powerful against attacks than they are now. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Oct 11, 2021, 12:38:22 PM

So one of the weaker and least popular classes now needs to invest more than before, and still comes up shorter.
I swear, GGG spins a wheel to decide what to nerf. |
