currently, you cant.

there are a ton of changes in the tube for 3.16. without seeing ALL of them, nobody knows what will be good/decent/terrible.

none of those 'resources' are going to help you pick a 3.16 build, because none of them have access to 3.16 information.

if im really looking for a build or build ideas, i use the build forums here on this website. builds with 10+ pages of activity are good places to start, but if they dont have detailed sections, budget options, reasons for XYZ, i ignore them. some are still traps, with random links to their youtube or rmt sites, and make sure to actually read replies from OTHER players who have tried the build.
You need to stop listening to what other people are saying about stuff and turn off YouTube.

Quit worrying about being the best and worry more about enjoying the game. Have fun trying to make something "bad" work for you.

I'm going to be trying to make Lightning Strike/Tempest Shield work for me in honor of a Tesladin I recalled playing in D2 about 15 years ago. Is it going to be "good"? Probably not. The theme says Inquisitor, but it would probably work a whole lot better as a Duelest build. But I'm going to try to make Inquisitor work. Probably wont. But it's more fun to dick around with stuff that might or might not work than to play the game on rails.

Maybe you should come at it from a different direction because there is no certified by GGG as good type of thing to look for in a build guide.

How do you want to play? And I know that's open ended, but it has to be. For instance, are you okay with a minion type of playstyle? Or do you prefer a melee approach? Fast and risky? Slow and reliable?

Help us help you.
Thanks for all the fish!

That depends entirely on your play style. Every three months the meta shifts and we don’t know what to expect anymore. I’m personally praying for forbidden rite totems to stay good as that’s what I want to start with and stick with next league, all league.
"Bonus points if it is Scion/Witch because they have nice knees. Ranger has ugly knees and other characters are men so playing them would be homoerotic." - CAKE, 10/20/21
I would suggest you try out a minion build during end of this league just to see if you like it. Minion builds are generally reliable and low cost to get up an running.

Totems are another reliably cheap and semi-powerful, especially if Forbidden Rite totems avoid the nerf bat.

The playstyles are definitely something you need to be okay with though.
Thanks for all the fish!
I'm afraid people like you and I who don't know how to make effective builds on their own and have to rely on other people's build are at big disadvantage in 3.15-3.16 because both leagues have huge balance changes. You can theory craft, but no one really knows how well the build will actually work without trying them when the new league hits.

If you're OK with not starting right away (or maybe respecing later) wait a few days and check out streamers, PoE builds, PoE Ninja, Youtube. However, this advice didn't help me in 3.15 - I was hoping to see some new builds on PoE Builds website as people would get used the nerfs and figure out new strong stuff, but it barely got updated compared to the previous leagues.

Maybe content creators didn't want to make new builds from scratch. Maybe the majority just gave on on the league - as the Steam numbers suggest. But I have bigger hopes for the upcoming league because now apparently we also get some buffs instead of just nerfs like it was in 3.15.
I disagree strongly that everyone should just mess around with dumb build ideas and 'be happy'.

Everyone likes different things, personally I dont like hitting red maps and finding out my build is hard capped and only mirrors worth of gear could save it.

Your primary choices are

1 - Wait until the patch notes are out and find a build that was good last league and not nerfed (so dont pick a build with dodge, use EE/EO, elemental minions, etc.)

1.b. - Read the forums and reddit to determine which builds were not much impacted and largely viable.

2 - About 24-48 hours into the league, the meta builds will start to emerge. This league Forbidden Rite totems was instantly strong, followed by any shield builds (SST, Shield Crush, etc)

IF the shield builds and FR are not nerfed, they will be super strong again. Just dont pick a gladiator one, and probably not raider (used dodge and blind a lot for defenses) until you know they can still be effective.

Then you're probably also too new to be very affected by any changes, no matter the scope of them.

There are three things you should know from the info we've been presented so far:

- Some builds relying on Elemental Equilibrium may be worse off, but compensations have been made to some of them

- Some builds relying on Elemental Overload might be worse off, but compensations have been made to some of them

- Stacking auras is way harder, so making an Aurabot/Aurastacker may be very difficult an/or more expensive than before.

Other than that? Feel free to build whatever you want. Raider is good if mobility is your drug of choice.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
