GGG licenses to tencent. chinese gov bans video games!

good job GGG! the us gov has been struggling to interrupt
and impede the rising colossus.

we poe players should have known: disable their youth with
addiction to grinding gears!

not sure if I can post a link, if its removed try googling
"chinese gov bans video games"

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/china-suspends-approval-new-online-games-south-china-morning-post-2021-09-09/

there is also a likely temporary ban on new releases
until they pass an approval process (determine if addictive
or not)

hehehe.

GGG got tencent in trouble... I'm sure of it.

is this off topic? sry if it is.

Well, obviously you can't post a link, only a string. :D Let me fix that for you.

I highly doubt that GGG got tencent into trouble. Tencent have many more games and had many more games before they acquired PoE.
However, with things beijing this way, Chris Wilson was lucky he got the deal a few years ago. He might not get such a good one now.

That's yuan wei to look at it. =^[.]~=

This is the most clickbait title I've seen on these forums in a long time.

And I'm not referring to the Reuters story.

Also this thread is going to be locked/disappeared in no time...

PoE is a game for adults. Chinese laws are regarding kinds, as far as I know. You have any points here at all?
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
The sale in 2018 was an incredibly foolish and reckless mistake. Even fans made a large outcry at the time. Obviously monetary greed drove the sale, disregarding the impact it would have for the game, loyal player base, and the company’s future. The Chinese government has their hands in everything, and it’s always been a fact of life. I do believe stakeholders wish they could go back in time and never make the deal. A tragic fairy tale ending nonetheless for the most successful ARPG since D2.

Depends on how much the game made before the deal. But yeah, 80 million dollars is an offer hard to ignore.

80 million, and you'll keep your company in practice, following your dream, still making all the decisions? It's a win/win in my eyes.

I don´t even know what I would call this :)

Since GD is quite hysterical since 3.15, it might fit in here.
