Anyone Else Just Want To Play Some POE?

Currently bouncing between soulcalibur, rimworld and waiting for a devil may cry sale

PoE just trashed my spellslinguer build that i was working on and so its a temporary goodbye, ill be back when they make up their mind on that "vision" of PoE they are working on

As was being said before, the amount of stuff they nerf to umplayability is beyond irritating, it really turned into a game i can only endure on small doses, so standard it is for me(i still keep coming back because its the best in the market tho... diablo-esque games with long time progression are just great-another reason why standard for me it is i think, maybe if leagues had more time, like D2 ladder that reseted only once a year, i would dig it, but cant complete and enjoy toon on only 4 months)

Just remember that once you're done "investing" that time, you'll only "clear content as you please" for the next two months or so, after which the next league starts and you get to "invest" more time all over again!

its called playing the game. most people who play games play them because they want to play the game, playing the game isnt some sort of downside they have to suffer while logging in to do something other than play the game.

when you get to the point where you dont want to play the game, then dont play the game, and keep not playing the game until you want to play the game again.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Thats what i thought, until i logged into my standard characters and realised they had trashed them all and i would have to spend hours rebalancing and juggling all my gear again to get a build that is ultimately a shadow of what i had built it over mths of "invested time".

GGG said that standard is a place players can play to make sure they can keep progressing their accounts, but its honestly frustrating to constantly find your builds ruined and items made worthless.
I mean, I miss some long gone version of the game but I'd be lying if I said I want to play it now. It makes for some nice memories but when it comes to games I'm all about making new ones, not reliving old ones... especially when reliving old ones carries far too high a risk of the present state of things breaking them.

Even were I to get an arpg itch I'd put at least two other titles higher on the must-play list than PoE...and a third that is purely personal preference with no excuse beyond my poor taste. That aside, PoE is just not a very good ARPG anymore, at least not by the metric I've used to define "good ARPG" ever since playing the fuck out of Diablo 1 shareware. Someone asked me very recently why I like ARPGs and I had to think about it. The answer was really simple in the end: to me, a good ARPG is Gauntlet with depth and variation. Technically PoE should be the top of that list but I don't see much depth or variation anymore. Even when I quit a few years back now, it all felt very samey no matter which of my many...many alts I played.

Conversely I already know that when D2R comes out, my characters will feel different because D2 did a ridiculously good job differentiating its seven classes...and the sub builds within each. And yet it's a billion times "simpler" than PoE.

Somewhere along the way PoE stopped being complex and just became complicated, and no one wants that status as their gaming relationship. Life's complicated enough. And if it isn't, eh, maybe the word "life" is being used too generously.

Still: PoE does as many things right as D2 did. Unfortunately I think it does a lot more wrong, which makes appreciating the good much, much harder. And for some, genuinely impossible.

And for everyone else, there are always more mtxes and support packs to buy to keep showing that appreciation. :)

If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Seems to be more about testing the game than playing it. Probably going to be that way for a while.
me me me!

Nah I'd rather shitpost.

To be fair though, standard is about as good as it could be expected to be. It's a ghost town though. No deli churn, no sims, no chay, no trivia.
